This Was Obama's Moment - Now It Is Ours!

From Obama's convention speech (my rebuttals in parenthesis): "America, this is our moment. This is our time. Our time to turn the page on the policies of the past. Our time to bring new energy and new ideas to the challenges we face. Our time to offer a new direction for the country we love.  [What a bunch of unspecific platitudes from a man whose wife said during the Presidential campaign that this was the FIRST time she was ever proud of her country!  I think she needs to study some American history - don't you?]
The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. I face this challenge with profound humility, and knowledge of my own limitations [a promise he couldn't keep because he believes himself to be more brilliant than anyone else]. But I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people. Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, [I believe he is speaking here about his Progressive agenda] then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick [has he forgotten the assistance provided by Medicare, Medicaid, AIDS funding for those without insurance, State Children's Health Insurance Program, the NIH, free clinics and the generosity of those who donate to hospitals for the care of the uninsured - and the fact that emergency rooms are not allowed, by law, to turn anyone away?  I would say we "began to provide care decades ago] and good jobs to the jobless [by this, I imagine he meant giving government jobs and union jobs, not promotion of jobs in the private sector, for if the government takes over an industry it can then claim to have provided those jobs, as any good Socialist would do]; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow [and he thinks he is humble?] and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth [we always have been the shining city on the hill]. This was the moment—this was the time—when we came together to remake this great nation [notice he didn't say to improve this great nation, but to actually remake it, to (as he said) "fundamentally transform it"]so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals. Thank you, God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America". [How do YOU think the Hope and Change mantra has worked out for America?  His change, in my view, is that our country's President now spends his time in office dividing our citizens into groups of good and evil, picking winners and losers, denigrating those who provide jobs and opportunity as the bad guys, declaring that those who disagree with him are his "enemies", and actually declaring that democrats must "punish" these enemies!]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  I implore you to vote!  It is now our moment, and it may very well be our last good chance to demand that our government work for us, the citizens, instead of we citizens working for our government (perhaps in their desired Civilian National Security Force, "just as
powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded as our military".  It is also the Progressives' best chance, after many decades of work, to wrest from the hands of conservatives the tenets of our Constitution, the principals upon which our Founding Fathers created our Republic.  Progressives have been at work in our school systems for decades, little by little teaching our children that America is no better than any other country (as Obama actually said), that we are in fact fatally flawed, and that we need to get out of the way and let the enlightened Left lead us.  They believe that more government interference in our lives is always good.  I agree with President Gerald Ford, who said, "A government big enough to give you everything you need is big enough to take from you everything you have."  We must keep in mind this election day that, as Edmund Burke said in the 1700's, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."  If this Administration has done so many things in two years which are directly against the will of the people, just what is it they WON'T do?

Make sure you are part of this possible sea change to the liberal, progressive take-over of America's government, directed by President Obama.  Don't be left out! Overcome all difficulties, get out of your chairs, get in line at the polls, take someone with you when you go to vote, and be proud to be able to say, if we get out the vote and win, "I took part in the election of 2010 - I did my civic duty and it was a privilege."  Look your grandchildren in the eye and tell them that you did everything YOU could do to prevent the greatest country the world has ever known from changing beyond recognition. This is all about getting out the vote - not sitting at home talking about how unhappy you are with our government.  If you don't think particular Republican candidates are quite perfect, it doesn't matter.  Look at the alternative, hold your nose, and vote for the Republican!  Third party candidates are not the answer, as they always help Democrats win. It also ensures that the winner does not have anywhere near a majority of people who actually wanted him in office. Whoever is more energized, more determined to vote, will win this day.  If we don't win this election, we may never have another chance to prevent further progressive laws from being enacted.   This is why Progressives are in a state of panic - their great hopes, the culmination of decades of community organizing to "fundamentally transform" America on Tuesday, are in jeopardy.

Perhaps when history books are written, it will be said that the conservatives, the Tea Party voters, the "take back America" folks, the Tax and Spend Must End patriots, and the newly energized small government voters were the "Second Greatest Generation".
