Free Republic reports: A proposed revision to Freedom of Information Act rules would allow federal agencies to lie to citizens and reporters seeking certain records, telling them the records don’t exist.
The Justice Department has proposed the change as part of a large revision of FOIA rules for federal agencies. Specifically, the rule would direct government agencies who are denying a request under an established FOIA exemption to “respond to the request as if the excluded records did not exist,” rather than citing the relevant exemption.
The proposed rule has alarmed government transparency advocates across the political spectrum, who’ve called it “Orwellian” and say it will “twist” public access to government. [This should really help Americans to trust their government, right? This isn't exactly what a "the most transparent administration" should be proposing.]  http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2797479/posts

Redstate writer clarifies his statement: I have come to understand that Herman Cain has in reality done far more for the pro-life movement than I ever have. For instance, he donated $1 million of his own money in an attempt to encourage black voters to vote pro-life. His 2004 Senate campaign made life a central issue. His work opposing abortion – especially among the black population – has led many leftist organizations to denounce him with hysterical, shrieking screeds; which is probative evidence of the fact that they were to some degree effective. http://www.redstate.com/leon_h_wolf/2011/10/21/a-mea-culpa-on-herman-cain-and-abortion/

WLSAM.com reports: A federal judge temporarily blocked Florida's new law that requires welfare applicants to pass a drug test before receiving the benefits on Monday, saying it may violate the Constitution's ban on unreasonable searches and seizures. http://www.wlsam.com/Article.asp?id=2317978

Big Government opines: A newly-discovered video–filmed by Occupy Wall Street supporters themselves–reveals that New York Times reporter Natasha Lennard is not merely covering the protests, but is also apparently taking part in planning and executing them.
In the video, Lennard is seen participating as a featured speaker in a discussion among anarchists, communists, and other radicals as they examine the theory, strategy and tactics of the Occupy protests.
When Lennard reported on her arrest at the time, she appears to have concealed her own apparent role in the Occupy protests, implying that her arrest was an abuse of press freedom. She used her affiliation with the Times to win her early release.
Sympathetic media expressed shock that a reporter had been taken into custody by allegedly overzealous police. Only sources like Newsbusters questioned that narrative at the time. The video suggests that the skeptics were correct in their suspicions. http://biggovernment.com/lstranahan/2011/10/23/whaddaya-think-new-video-reveals-new-york-times-reporter-acting-as-occupywallstreet-organizer/

Daily Caller writes: The Occupy Wall Street organizers have invited support from Muslim groups, and on Friday, their camp in New York City’s Zuccotti Park played host to an Islamist group with ties to Islamist anti-Semites, radicals and terrorists.

[Barack Obama's book Dreams from my Father is now being given to embassies around the world.  Guess who is paying for it?  You got it - the American taxpayers.  The State Department has bought more than $70,000 worth of books authored by President Obama, sending out copies as Christmas gratuities and stocking “key libraries” around the world with “Dreams From My Father” more than a decade after its release.
A review of the expenditures in a federal database did not reveal any examples of State Department purchases of books by former Presidents George W. Bush or Bill Clinton. The purchases of Mr. Obama’s literary work mostly, but not always, took place in the months after Mr. Obama captured the White House.

National Review reports: The Washington Examiner reports that at a fundraiser in Las Vegas, the president said the following about his jobs bill:
But last week, we had a separate vote on a part of the jobs bill that would put 400,000 teachers, firefighters and police officers back on the job, paid for by asking people who make more than $1 million to pay one-half of 1 percent in additional taxes. For somebody making $1.1 million a year, that’s an extra $500. Five hundred bucks. And with that, we could have saved 400,000 jobs.
As every Corner reader who graduated from 4th grade determined immediately upon reading the above quote, one half of 1 percent of $1.1 million is $5,500, not $500. But, hey, even though he said it three times, cut the president some slack — he’s off only by about factor of ten.
But even if the president meant to say $5,500, his math continues to pose some challenges. According to the IRS, a total of 235,413 taxpayers earned more than $1 million last year. If each “was willing to pay $[5,]500 extra to help the country,” that would generate only $1.3 billion in revenue — approximately what the federal government spends every three hours. Wouldn’t it be just as patriotic for President Obama to turn off the federal spigot for three hours and dedicate the savings to funding those 400,000 jobs?  http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/281276/math-fun-president-obama-peter-kirsanow

The New American writes: Activists in Clallam County, Washington are celebrating their government's decision to pull the plug on membership in the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), a worldwide association of more than 1,200 local governments dedicated to promoting the United Nations' sovereignty-eroding sustainable development program known as Agenda 21. The county will save $1,200 in annual membership dues, but ICLEI critics say they've salvaged much more than that.
His remarks, detailed at Citizen Review Online, include the warning that ICLEI's idea of sustainable development is to promote UN Agenda 21, a plan drafted at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. He quoted official documents stating the published agenda of UN habitat programs is to protect the environment by moving people from rural areas into cities and that "land ... cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals, [as this] contributes to social injustice.  "http://thenewamerican.com/tech-mainmenu-30/environment/9512-county-in-washington-ditches-sustainable-development

Boston.com reports:  In a new interview, Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren claims much of the credit for the Occupy Wall Street protests sweeping the nation.
“I created much of the intellectual foundation for what they do,” the Harvard Law School professor and former Obama administration consumer advocate told Samuel P. Jacobs of The Daily Beast. “I support what they do.”
The National Republican Senatorial Committee, charged with helped Senator Scott Brown win reelection, jumped on the comment.
“Warren’s decision to not only embrace, but take credit for this movement is notable considering the Boston Police Department was recently forced to arrest at least 141 of her Occupy acolytes in Boston the other day after they threatened to tie up traffic downtown and refused to abide by their protest permit limits,” NRSC spokesman Brian Walsh wrote. http://www.boston.com/Boston/politicalintelligence/2011/10/elizabeth-warren-says-she-created-intellectual-foundation-for-occupy-wall-street-movement/eXimmRDbpeHoNBkKRmOsBL/index.html?p1=News_links
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------A Expose Obama reports: Republican leader in the House is accusing the Obama administration of violating a federal law designed to protect America’s most sensitive technological secrets from the Red Chinese. The most extreme of Obama’s czars,Science Czar John P. Holdren,so flagrantly violated the law that a one-sided Justice Department legal memorandum drawn up to exonerate him said it could defend “most,if not all”of his actions.According to Virginia Republican Congressman Frank Wolf, the offense took place when Holdren attended the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) on May 9-10. Holdren, who heads the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP),took nine OSTP employees to the meeting, where they admit they met with representatives of the People’s Republic of China. This violates section 1340 of the Department of Defense and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act of 2011,a funding bill Congress passed earlier this year to avoid a federal shutdown.
Despite the clear statutory language, nine OSTP employees participated in the S&ED with their Chinese counterparts, costing the agency $3,500. Wolf said their participation constitutes “blatant disregard for the law.”
"In fact, the GAO found OSTP violated two laws;by spending funds that were not available to it,the agency also broke the Anti-Deficiency Act.
As a sign of this administration’s growing contempt for the rule of law,the government did not attempt to hide its wrongdoing;it simply said the lawbreaking is none of your business. http://www.exposeobama.com/2011/10/25/new-lawbreaking-allegation-obama-illegally-pushes-green-agenda-with-china/
