The "importance of accepting homosexual intimacy" prevails; Elementary & Secondary Education Act needs to be read before passed; Being part of the 53%; Biden brainwashes 4th grade students; Obama warns other dictators; Democrats retiring; North Korea supports Occupy Wall St.; Rules for Radical on display at Occupy sites; Obama scrubbing reference to Islam from all law enforcement and national security communities; Seniors unfairly have empty bedrooms; $440,000 taxpayer dollars for antique bikes

Personal Liberty writes: A handful of students at a Connecticut high school reportedly walked out of a school play after witnessing a man-on-man kiss.
During the “Zanna Don’t” musical at Hartford Public High, a group of students walked out after the homosexual act, in what school officials referred to as “kind of a symbolic thing,” according to CBS Connecticut.
Reportedly, many students expressed a desire to skip the show beforehand because of the subject matter of the musical, which depicts life at a fictitious high school, where students with academically charged interests sit atop the popularity echelon while football players are the outcasts and heterosexuals must conceal their sexual preference to avoid public scrutiny.
School officials said they were given the opportunity to have the male kissing scene removed from the play, but opted not to because of “the importance of accepting homosexual intimacy as society accepts heterosexual intimacy.” [Indoctrination?  What indoctrination?] http://www.personalliberty.com/news/gay-play-peeves-high-school-kids/?eiid=&rmid=2011_10_20_PLA_[P11653503]&rrid=394582776

Heritage Action opines: All of us have grown tired of massive bills that are crammed down our throats with promises that they will solve all the problems of the world. Obamacare was more than 2,000 pages long and promised it would completely save the healthcare industry – lower costs, increase access to care and make medicine better. We were promised that Dodd-Frank, which was also more than 2,000 pages, would solve all the problems in the banking industry and prevent the financial crisis of 2008 from ever happening again.
What we actually got from those bills was exactly what the authors intended, but not what we were told. It was about the expansion of government power, which has very negative consequences.
Now we have the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), which is 860 pages long and claims to solve all the problems of No Child Left Behind (NCLB). But what we’ve learned from long bills and claims as to what they do is that they do not work as promised. We cannot continue to pass bills to find out what is in them, because when we learn what is actually in them, we realize what a mistake it was to pass them in the first place. But with ESEA, we have help. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is attempting to slow down this bill to give people a chance to read it, weigh in and have their grievances against big-government education heard. He has offered 74 amendments to the bill, each one requiring a vote and keeping the bill in the spotlight longer so that experts can examine it.  http://heritageaction.com/2011/10/sen-rand-paul-slows-down-860-page-disaster/

[Are you part of the 53%. That would be the 53% of Americans who actually pay taxes so that the 99% can ask us to give them what they need.  Begun by conservative college students, the movement is growing.  The following website is really nifty, as it details the history of individuals, along with photographs, describing how they have succeeded in life by dint of hard work, not government handouts..http://the53.tumblr.com

Examiner.com reports:  Tiffany Gabbay's excellent article in The Blaze today, which includes the video, reveals a very dangerous precedent--interjecting any political elements, especially those based on demogogary, into a public school environment--especially when it done by the Vice President of the United States.
Biden's speaking to these 30 impressionable young children about the $25 million budget cut, which forced their school system to lay off 140 teachers ... "who you don't see here this year," was at best a gratuitous photo op.

Biden actually told these schoolchildren that in order to rehire some 400,000 teachers nationwide, along with thousands of police officers and firefighters, all that needs to be done is to tax wealthy individuals at a higher rate than they are currently taxed.
“We’re going to give you some money to hire them back.”
Then Biden said that if we only take $500 in additional taxes from someone who makes a million dollars--"a millionaire"--then all those jobs will come right back.

National Journal reports: Rep. Dennis Cardoza, D-Calif., announced his retirement from Congress this afternoon -- and he issued a scathing parting shot at President Obama's track record on his way out.
In a statement explaining his decision, Cardoza, a leader of the centrist Blue Dog Coalition, said he was "dismayed" by the administration's "failure to understand and effectively address the current housing foreclosure crisis."
Cardoza is the sixth member -- all Democrats -- to announce plans to retire outright so far. He's also the third member of the Blue Dog Caucus to head for the exits -- joining fellow moderate Reps. Dan Boren, D-Okla., and Mike Ross, D-Ark.  http://hotlineoncall.nationaljournal.com/archives/2011/10/cardoza-to-anno.php

American Thinker writes: North Korea's state news agency weighed in on the Occupy Wall Street protests Thursday, highlighting the "stern judgment" of "millions of people" against a capitalist system that "brings exploitation, oppression, unemployment and poverty to the popular masses."

With no apparent sense of irony, KCNA says that in capitalist society "1% of privileged class is granted all preferential treatment while 99% of working masses are forced into poverty and death." http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2011/10/ows_gets_some_loving_from_north_korea.html

American Spectator opines: This is Obama's milieu. This is how he was trained. As Ryan Lizza explained in a definitive piece in the New Republic -- a liberal magazine, not a right-wing/anti-Obama hit factory -- Obama's intellectual roots and career choices made him a student of, and later actually an instructor in, the particular mass-movement methods taught by the late, radical, Saul Alinsky. The sort of unrest seen in the anti-Wall Street movement comes directly out of Alinsky's secular bible called Rules for Radicals.
"The first step in community organization is community disorganization," wrote Alinsky. "The disruption of the present organization is the first step toward community organization…. The organizer dedicated to changing the life of a particular community must first rub raw the resentments of the people of the community…. When those prominent in the status quo turn and label you an 'agitator' they are completely correct, for that is, on one word, your function -- to agitate to the point of conflict."
Alinsky hardly was squeamish about using filth to get his way. "If your organization is too tiny even for noise, stink up the place." http://spectator.org/archives/2011/10/21/alinsky-to-obama-to-occupiers

Daily Caller reports: Deputy U.S. Attorney General James Cole confirmed on Wednesday that the Obama administration was pulling back all training materials used for the law enforcement and national security communities, in order to eliminate all references to Islam that some Muslim groups have claimed are offensive.

The move comes after complaints from advocacy organizations including the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and others identified as Muslim Brotherhood front groups in the 2004 Holy Land Foundation terror fundraising trial.

UK Daily Mail reports: Older people should be taxed out of their family homes to free up space for younger generations, says a report backed by Labour.
It argues that 'empty nesters' in their 60s are taking up too much room and should be 'encouraged' by a new 'land tax' to downsize to smaller homes.
The call comes from the Intergenerational Foundation, a left-leaning think-tank that aims to 'promote fairness between generations'.  [Progressives in our government might seize on this idea.]

Human Events reports: A sanctuary for white squirrels, an antique bicycle museum and a giant roadside coffee pot are some of the projects that can still be funded with gas-tax dollars meant for highway construction after the Senate defeated a measure to strip such spending.

The Arizona deficit hawk [John McCain], known for targeting government waste, said one museum used $440,000 in government funding for antique bikes, and he held up several pictures of the projects, including a photograph of a beautification development of decorative rocks that cost nearly $500,000. http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=46988
