Personal Liberty.com writes: Here’s some news that could turn the entire election upside down. Leading Democrats are urging Barack Hussein Obama to withdraw as a candidate for re-election in 2012, as Lyndon Baines Johnson did almost 50 years ago.
The campaign to get Obama to quit the race kicked into high gear on Monday, when influential Democratic leaders Pat Caddell and Doug Schoen wrote a lengthy piece for The Wall Street Journal on why Obama should withdraw. Here’s part of what they said:
“[Obama] should abandon his candidacy for re-election in favor of a clear r alternative, one capable not only of saving the Democratic Party, but more important, of governing effectively and in a way that preserves the most important of the president’s http://www.personalliberty.com/conservative-politics/the-plot-to-make-hillary-president/?eiid=&rmid=2011_11_25_PLA_[P11555299]&rrid=394582776

Redstate writes: Apparently, the Black Friday Occupation isn’t working out so well for some #OWS protesters in Oklahoma City [#OccupyOKC].
After standing in the middle of the check out lanes and attempting to convince the WalMart workers to give up their jobs (jobs are slavery now, according to #OccupyOKC) and the shoppers to quit shopping, they tried to make a run for it and, based on the final scene, appear to have gotten the opportunity to occupy a jail cell. http://www.redstate.com/laborunionreport/2011/11/25/occupywalmart-protesters-occupy-handcuffs-on-occupyblackfriday/

The NY Post writes: President Obama has said that one quality he prizes highly in his judicial appointments is empathy. “We need somebody who’s got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it’s like to be a young teenage mom,” he told a Planned Parenthood conference way back in 2007. “The empathy to understand what it’s like to be poor or African-American or gay or disabled or old. And that’s the criteria by which I’m going to be selecting my judges.”
Alas, according to the American Bar Association, empathy isn’t good enough. Last week, news leaked that the ABA has secretly informed the White House that it rated 14 out of a potential 185 nominees for federal judgeships “unqualified” — most of them women and minorities put forth in the name of “diversity.”

Yahoo Finance writes: Annual compensation for employees at big Wall Street firms could fall 27-30 percent from a year earlier to the lowest level since the 2008 financial crisis, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a compensation study conducted by the Options Group. Bonuses, which constitute a substantial part of many finance workers' pay, are on track to decline 35-40 percent, on average, according to the forecast by Options Group, an executive search and consulting firm, the Journal said.
Pay is likely to be hardest hit in areas such as fixed income, currencies and commodities, the paper said. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/annual-compensation-could-fall-30-060823956.html;_ylt=AiUudYf30_n0_LmohJX1ucmiuYdG;_ylu=X3oDMTQ0ZzM5cmN1BG1pdANGaW5hbmNlIEZQIFRvcCBTdG9yeSBSaWdodARwa2cDNjI0MmEwMDQtMTY3NC0zMDEwLWJjNGYtY2ZlMjk5YWQ2OTY0BHBvcwM0BHNlYwN0b3Bfc3RvcnkEdmVyA2MwODYxZTgwLTE5ODctMTFlMS04ZGY3LTM4MzhhZDM5OGQ0Ng;_ylg=X3oDMTFvdnRqYzJoBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQD

Newsbusters reports on a columnist's efforts to bring down a Presidential candidate: Hey Tweeps: Looking for outlandish/incorrect predictions and quotes from Newt Gingrich's past.  Any ideas for me?  For those unfamiliar, Blake writes for the Post's The Fix political blog, hence the moniker "Fix Aaron."
What would one expect from a newspaper that only five months ago called for readers to sift through former Alaska governor Sarah Palin's email messages?
It therefore isn't at all surprising they'd be looking for dirt on the current Republican presidential frontrunner.
Also of interest, that retweet above was from Zeke J. Miller, a politics reporter for Business Insider. Judging from another recent retweet of his, he doesn't seem to be neutral on the former Speaker

The NY Post writes: The words cut like a knife. “What the hell are we paying you for?” Gov. Chris Christie asked of President Obama.
The New Jersey Republican has a gift for getting to the heart of things, and his broadside against the president over the debt bomb is Exhibit A. His assertion, framed as a question, makes the case against Obama better than anything heard from the actual candidates.
On Monday, the GOP heavyweight called Obama “a bystander in the Oval Office” for ducking the congressional committee charged with finding $1.2 trillion in deficit reductions over 10 years.
“I was angry this weekend, listening to the spin coming out of the administration about the failure of the super committee, and that the president knew it was doomed for failure, so he didn’t get involved,” Christie said. “Well, then, what the hell are we paying you for? ‘It’s doomed for failure so I’m not getting involved?’ Well, what have you been doing, exactly?”

Yahoo.com reports: U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Wednesday that programs to help the world's poor should be treated as national security priorities as economic turmoil leaves millions struggling to find work and food.

Her message to thousands of government and private aid officials at the world's premier development forum is part of a push to keep aid flowing to the people who need it most.

It is a tough sell as rich donor nations dealing with financial crises and tight budgets face questions from taxpayers and lawmakers wondering whether aid money should be spent on citizens suffering at home, not in faraway countries. http://m.yahoo.com/w/news_america/clinton-says-aid-poor-security-priority-061410433.html?orig_host_hdr=news.yahoo.com&.intl=us&.lang=en-us

Spectator.com writes:  The NLRB is the supposedly neutral federal agency charged with judging private sector labor law cases and interpreting labor statutes. However, under Obama, it has gone far beyond that mission, to propose sweeping rule changes favorable to unions.
Some members of Congress are focused on this problem and are trying to do something about it. On Wednesday, the House of Representatives is set to vote on the Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act (H.R. 3094). The bill, introduced by House Education and the Workforce Committee Chairman John Kline (R-Minn.), would prevent these "ambush" elections by requiring all union representation elections to occur no less than 35 days following a union's election petition to the NLRB.
The Act would also allow workers to choose how a union can contact them. Currently, employers are required to give unions information such as a worker's home address, which can lead to intimidation by organizers. http://spectator.org/archives/2011/11/30/ambush-election-prevention

Heritage.org writes: In a press conference this evening, the president referred in stumbling fashion to the “English Embassy” in Iran instead of the British Embassy. One can only imagine the kind of howls of derision that would greet any presidential contender if that kind of basic error were made before, say, the editorial board of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. You can watch the video above.
In case the president is unaware, England forms part of Great Britain, which also includes Scotland and Wales, though not Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom. There is no such thing as an “English” embassy anywhere in the world, and there hasn’t been one for several centuries.
Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised by this latest slip-up by President Obama. After all he recently described France as America’s closest ally, and famously declared that he has traveled to no less than 57 states. But it would be nice if the leader of the free world bothered to look at a map once in a while, or even paid a visit to the British Embassy in Washington, currently housing the Churchill bust that Mr. Obama unceremoniously threw out of the Oval Office soon after his inauguration. http://blog.heritage.org/2011/11/29/does-obama-know-the-difference-between-great-britain-and-england/

American Thinker writes: He will not be stumped by the media.  In fact, Gingrich will have the knowledge to actually embarrass the automatons who read teleprompter questions.  More pointedly, Gingrich has the best chance of any Republican to display Obama before America in a "deer in the headlights" moment.  Our current president is a profoundly ignorant man whose ignorance is masked by equally ignorant and wholly programmed media.

Yet what Obama doesn't know can hurt us, and a single slip in the debates could cost him -- and perhaps his party -- five percentage points in the general election.  That could not only seal the presidential election, but also swing dozens of House and Senate races and turn a presidential victory into a presidential landslide.  People are scared now, and a man who obviously grasps the present crisis can be a valuable electoral asset.
Gingrich also understands Congress.  He was House minority whip and then speaker of the House, the most important office in Congress.  Gingrich would understand how to move legislation through Congress, and so a conservative agenda supported by him would have a much greater likelihood of actually becoming law than it would with some more ardent, but less experienced, conservatives.

The hunt for a perfect candidate, while a vastly unpopular radical ruins America, is imprudent and unnecessary.  The first goal, the indispensable goal, is to vote Obama out of office.  Gingrich, like it or not, is a perfect candidate for that purpose.

Exerpts from a speech by Geert Wilders, chairman Party for Freedom, the Netherlands, about Islam

Speaking in 2008 at the Four Seasons in NYC, Geert Wilders warns of creeping Sharia:  I come to America with a mission. All is not well in the old world. There is a tremendous danger looming, and it is very difficult to be optimistic. We might be in the final stages of the Islamization of Europe. This not only is a clear and present danger to the future of Europe itself, it is a threat to America and the sheer survival of the West. The danger I see looming is the scenario of America as the last man standing. The United States as the last bastion of Western civilization, facing an Islamic Europe. In a generation or two, the US will ask itself: who lost Europe? Patriots from around Europe risk their lives every day to prevent precisely this scenario form becoming a reality.
But in all of these cities, sometimes a few blocks away from your tourist destination, there is another world, a world very few visitors see – and one that does not appear in your tourist guidebook. It is the world of the parallel society created by Muslim mass-migration. All throughout Europe a new reality is rising: entire Muslim neighbourhoods where very few indigenous people reside or are even seen. And if they are, they might regret it. This goes for the police as well. It’s the world of head scarves, where women walk around in figureless tents, with baby strollers and a group of children. Their husbands, or slaveholders if you prefer, walk three steps ahead. With mosques on many street corner. The shops have signs you and I cannot read. You will be hard-pressed to find any economic activity. These are Muslim ghettos controlled by religious fanatics. These are Muslim neighbourhoods, and they are mushrooming in every city across Europe. These are the building-blocks for territorial control of increasingly larger portions of Europe, street by street, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, city by city.
There are now thousands of mosques throughout Europe. With larger congregations than there are in churches. And in every European city there are plans to build super-mosques that will dwarf every church in the region. Clearly, the signal is: we rule.
Many European cities are already one-quarter Muslim.  Paris is now surrounded by a ring of Muslim neighbourhoods. Mohammed is the most popular name among boys in many cities. In some elementary schools in Amsterdam the farm can no longer be mentioned, because that would also mean mentioning the pig, and that would be an insult to Muslims. Many state schools in Belgium and Denmark only serve halal food to all pupils. In once-tolerant Amsterdam gays are beaten up almost exclusively by Muslims.
Now these are just numbers. And the numbers would not be threatening if the Muslim-immigrants had a strong desire to assimilate. But there are few signs of that. The Pew Research Center reported that half of French Muslims see their loyalty to Islam as greater than their loyalty to France. One-third of French Muslims do not object to suicide attacks. The British Centre for Social Cohesion reported that one-third of British Muslim students are in favour of a worldwide caliphate. A Dutch study reported that half of Dutch Muslims admit they “understand” the 9/11 attacks.
Muslims demand what they call ‘respect’. And this is how we give them respect. Our elites are willing to give in. To give up. In my own country we have gone from calls by one cabinet member to turn Muslim holidays into official state holidays, to statements by another cabinet member, that Islam is part of Dutch culture, to an affirmation by the Christian-Democratic attorney general that he is willing to accept sharia in the Netherlands if there is a Muslim majority. We have cabinet members with passports from Morocco and Turkey.
Our many problems with Islam cannot be explained by poverty, repression or the European colonial past, as the Left claims. Nor does it have anything to do with Palestinians or American troops in Iraq. The problem is Islam itself.
Allow me to give you a brief Islam 101. The first thing you need to know about Islam is the importance of the book of the Quran. The Quran is Allah’s personal word, revealed by an angel to Mohammed, the prophet. This is where the trouble starts. Every word in the Quran is Allah’s word and therefore not open to discussion or interpretation. It is valid for every Muslim and for all times. Therefore, there is no such a thing as moderate Islam. Sure, there are a lot of moderate Muslims. But a moderate Islam is non-existent.
The Quran calls for hatred, violence, submission, murder, and terrorism. The Quran calls for Muslims to kill non-Muslims, to terrorize non-Muslims and to fulfil their duty to wage war: violent jihad. Jihad is a duty for every Muslim, Islam is to rule the world – by the sword. The Quran is clearly anti-Semitic, describing Jews as monkeys and pigs.
The second thing you need to know is the importance of Mohammed the prophet. His behaviour is an example to all Muslims and cannot be criticized. Now, if Mohammed had been a man of peace, let us say like Ghandi and Mother Theresa wrapped in one, there would be no problem. But Mohammed was a warlord, a mass murderer, a pedophile, and had several marriages – at the same time. Islamic tradition tells us how he fought in battles, how he had his enemies murdered and even had prisoners of war executed. Mohammed himself slaughtered the Jewish tribe of Banu Qurayza. He advised on matters of slavery, but never advised to liberate slaves. Islam has no other morality than the advancement of Islam. If it is good for Islam, it is good. If it is bad for Islam, it is bad. There is no gray area or other side.

Lawsuit on Obama's fraudulent Social Security Number issued in New Hampshire,

Update: Exclusive: Orly Taitz Reports on New Hampshire Ballot Commission Hearing

492Share 0diggsdigg Tweet

“PEOPLE WERE SCREAMING, ‘TRAITORS!’”

by Sharon Rondeau

William Gardner has been Secretary of State of New Hampshire since 1976
(Nov. 18, 2011) — Atty. Orly Taitz reported the following from the Ballot Law Commission hearing in Concord, NH regarding her election complaint against Barack Hussein Obama for social security fraud and forgery:
There is good news and bad news.  the good news is that a lot of people showed up.  There were probably 100 people there.  So many people came that they had to open a partition with a conference room, and they used two conference rooms for the hearing.  There was media; there were multiple cameras.
I gave them the case.  I provided all the evidence that he is using a stolen social security number and forged birth certificate and provided all of the information in regard to Minor v. Happersett, Vattel, etc.  I probably spoke for half an hour.  Afterward, the assistant attorney general presented his case, which was a joke.  A five-year-old could have made a better case.  He brought the assistant secretary of state and asked, “Well, did Obama fill out the paper?” “Yes.”  “Did he pay the $1,000 fee?  “Yes.”  “OK, here’s my case.”
So I did cross-examination, and I told her, “Ma’am, I was born in the Soviet Union.  If I were to lie, if I were to commit fraud and fill out a paper saying I am eligible for the presidency and paid you $1,000, would you put my name on the ballot?” And she looked at me with her stupid eyes and said, “Well, ah…ummm…well, ah, if there were a challenge, then I wouldn’t.”  So I said, “OK.  So everything that you just said with the attorney general is pointless.  If there is a challenge, then you cannot put the person on the ballot.  So what do you do if there is a challenge?”  And I asked her, “If you show the attorney general that Obama is using a stolen social security number and a forged birth certificate, what does he do?”  And she was looking at me with big cow eyes and said, “IIIIIIIII don’t know.”  And I said, “What do you mean ‘you don’t know?’ What did he do?  Did he say he will not put him on the ballot?  Did he start an investigation?  Or did he hide it, sweeping it all under the rug?” and she had nothing to say.  So he was saying, “Well, he filled out the paper, and Biden came over and gave us a $1,000 check…”
So I stood up and told them, “Ladies and gentlemen of the committee, you have all the evidence that the paperwork was filled out fraudulently.  If you allow him on the ballot in the state of New Hampshire, you are aiding and abetting forgery, fraud and treason.  You will be criminally complicit.”
As they stepped out, everybody mobbed the secretary of state and attorney general.  They were screaming at them.  I’ve never seen anything like this.  Particularly women…women were screaming, “How could you do this to us?!  How could you allow him on the ballot?  Where is your decency?”  They were screaming.  So the committee said, “Here’s our attorney.  He has something to say.”  So the attorney said, “Well, according to the law, the candidate is supposed to fill out a form and pay $1,000.  Obama filled out the form and paid $1,000, so he’s on the ballot.”
Everybody jumped to their feet.  They were screaming and yelling and saying, “Traitors!  You’re traitors! You have no decency!  You have no honesty!  You’re committing treason!”  It was huge.  Cameras were rolling, and they had to call security.  (Rep.) Harry Accornero started yelling at to the chair of the committee and the corrupt attorney, and the attorney, Brad E. Cook, said, “Representative Accornero, you are out of order.”  And Accornero said, “No, you are out of order; you are committing treason.  You have to face the people of the state of New Hampshire, and you better not get out of the house without a mask!”
I’ve never seen anything like it.  People were so mad that I thought, “In another minute, they’re going to bring a rope and start hanging them all.”  Representative Carol Vita kept getting right in the face of the assistant attorney general; she was yelling and screaming at him.
Taitz reported that no one was hurt as a result of the hearing, which lasted about two hours in total.  She reported that Rep. Accornero said that members of the New Hampshire House of Representatives went to the Speaker of the House, and a meeting is set for Tuesday when they will decide what to do.  “I’m going to write an emergency appeal to the Supreme Court of New Hampshire.  Members of the House are going to join my other cases in Hawaii, the Ninth Circuit, and in the DC Circuit.”
“The level of corruption was unbelievable.  We found out that all five members of the committee are Democrats,” Taitz said.  “As I was presenting all of the evidence, people were listening and getting more and more angry.”
Her report of the events was confirmed by a local newspaper, The Concord Monitor, which also provided photos.  Another writer for the Monitor used Taitz’s name rather than the pejorative “birther,” but described the hearing as a “primary circus” and the outcome as “predictable.”
Video of the events of November 18, 2011 can be viewed here.  Of the Commission’s decision, Taitz said, “They were under marching orders.”
Update, November 19, 2011:  Taitz stated that she was flying home to California last night and had used all of the frequent flyer miles she had accumulated thus far from various trips to fly to New Hampshire.  The ticket would have cost $1,100 because it was booked at the last minute.  She said she will need more such miles donated from supporters in order to fly to Hawaii for a hearing on November 30 in her case against the Hawaii Department of Health.
Citizens can file election complaints in other states with links provided to the various Secretaries of State.
The names of the Ballot Law Commission members are Chairman Bradford E. Cook; Jane Clemons; Ms. Margaret Ann Moran; Jamison French, and one other member; David Scanlon, Deputy Secretary of State; Karen Ladd, Assistant Secretary of State, and James Bufetti (sp?), Counsel for the Ballot Law Commission were also in attendance.  The video was made by Mr. Tim Carter, a citizen reporter who attended the hearing.
——————
Editor’s Note:  If Taitz’s contention that all five members of the Ballot Law Commission are from one party is correct, it is an apparent violation of law.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Nov. 18, 2011) — The Concord Monitor is reporting that four members of the New Hampshire House of Representatives have stated that in their opinion, Obama’s short- and long-form birth certificates are forgeries.
Gardner had reportedly referred Rappaport’s concerns to the New Hampshire attorney general, who apparently took no action.
Taitz filed a lawsuit after she was denied information through the Freedom of Information Act in regard to the application for which the social security number which Obama is using was granted.  After Judge Royce Lamberth of the U.S. District Court in Washington, DC denied Taitz’s request to see the application, he commented that it “was not her lucky day.”
Accornero, who represents Laconia in the New Hampshire House, has publicly accused Obama of treason over his immigration and economic policies. http://www.thepostemail.com/2011/11/18/four-new-hampshire-legislators-call-obamas-documents-forged/

Expose Obama writes: Barack Obama has nominated Henry J. Aaron to head the Social Security Advisory Board,a panel that advises the president and Congress about the old age system. The choice is most dangerous, since Aaron has a decades-long record as an advocate of denying American patients health care along the lines of the British national health system.
Aaron,a Brookings Institution scholar, has devoted his entire career to creating an intellectual and economic basis for health care rationing. In 2000,Aaron wrote,“The problem is that in the real world of limited medical resources, denial of beneficial care is inescapable.”Aaron wrote in a 2009 paper it is necessary for the government “to develop protocols that enable providers to identify in advance patients in whom expected benefits of treatment are lower than costs [and] to design incentives that encourage providers to act on those protocols.”That is,government must provide “incentives”to assure doctors deny treatment to those whom the ruling class deems unworthy of life. http://www.exposeobama.com/2011/11/16/another-obama-advisor-favors-health-care-rationing/

Insurance Journal writes: Angered by a federal health care law that most of them despise, North Dakota House Republicans defeated legislation to give state officials authority over a health insurance marketing agency that the law requires states to establish.
They said endorsing state administration of the agency, which is called a health insurance exchange, would be tantamount to approving the federal health reform law itself.
“I certainly am not going to legitimize Obamacare with my vote,” said Rep. Wes Belter, R-Fargo. “We, as a state of North Dakota, need to follow some of the other states who have said no. … It is the law, but the fight should not be over.” http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/midwest/2011/11/14/223960.htm

The Blaze reports: Robert and Patricia Haynes take care of their two children, who at the ages of 30 and 34 are more like children in adult bodies. That’s because they both have cerebral palsy, and rely on their parents to feed and change them — and likely will for the rest of their lives.
The Haynes family receives monthly checks from the state of Michigan through Medicaid, allowing the parents to care for their son and daughter themselves instead of institutionalizing them. But because a Michigan law classifies Robert and Patricia as “home health care workers,” they are considered public workers and therefore automatic union members — meaning the SEIU gets a $30 cut of the family’s Medicaid subsidy as union dues.
“We’re not home health care providers — we’re parents taking care of our children,” Melissa Haynes told Detroit Fox affiliate WJBK-TV: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/forced-unionization-seiu-collects-union-dues-from-disabled-kids-medicaid-checks/

Judicial Watch writes: Although the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) already has a special center dedicated to global warming, a new government report claims the nation’s intelligence community needs yet another taxpayer-funded entity to better determine the impact of climate change on national security.
This is no joke, though it may sound like one. It was just a few years ago that the CIA opened its top-secret global warming headquarters, the Center on Climate Change and National Security. No one really knows what goes in in the exclusive unit because it operates under a cloak of secrecy that rejects all public-records requests, despite President Obama’s promise to run a transparent government. What we do know is that the unit is led by “senior specialists.”
We also know that the center, launched in 2009, does not address the science of climate change but rather the national security impact of phenomena such as desertification, rising sea levels, population shifts and heightened competition for natural resources. When it opened the new division was touted as an important tool that would bring together in a single place expertise on an important national security topic; the effect environmental factors can have on political, economic and social stability overseas.
Evidently the CIA outfit is not getting the job done because the Defense Science Board (DSB), a decades-old committee appointed to provide the Pentagon with scientific and technical advice, says the U.S. intelligence community needs an organization that can assess the impacts of climate change on national security. This means creating a new climate information system database, a whole government approach to mitigating the effects of climate change and engaging with international leaders in identifying global solutions.  http://www.judicialwatch.org/blog/2011/nov/dod-global-warming-intel-unit-could-be-works

The UK Daily Mail reports: Once again, Prince Philip has performed an invaluable national service by tilting at windmills — or to be more precise in this case, wind turbines.

In private remarks that found their way into the Press, he apparently said wind turbines were ‘absolutely useless’, completely reliant on subsidies and that those who claimed they were one of the most cost-effective forms of renewable energy believed  in ‘fairytales’.

The Prince’s outburst may have been impolitic but many will be cheering his words. Indeed, he understated his case. For the Government’s promotion of wind-farms is simply off-the-wall crazy from every conceivable point of view.

Not only are these turbines hugely expensive to build and operate but also — surprise, surprise — they produce zero energy if the wind is not blowing.

Conversely, when the wind blows too hard they have to be shut down. So wind power has to be supplemented by gas-fired power stations — which push into the atmosphere yet more of the dreaded carbon dioxide that the turbines are meant to help diminish.
Meanwhile, a government adviser has calculated that even if 10 per cent of the country were to be covered with wind turbines, they would still generate only one-sixth of the nation’s energy needs.

Does one laugh or weep at such a farce masquerading as government policy?

More ludicrous still, it is becoming clearer by the day that the premise upon which these wind-farms are based, that increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are producing a catastrophic warming of the planet, has been shot to pieces.

Powerline Blog writes: It recently came out that James Hansen, one of the two or three most prominent global warming alarmists on whose work the IPCC reports rest, “forgot” to report $1.6 million in outside income, as required by his government contracts. Is that significant? Well, yes: A handful of scientists, including Hansen, have gotten wealthy on climate alarmism. They have an enormous financial interest in the faux science they have done so much to perpetrate. It is more likely that the Pope would renounce Christianity than that Hansen, Michael Mann, etc., would change their minds about global warming, regardless of the evidence. (I say that because the Pope has far more intellectual integrity than the climate alarmists.)
Beyond that handful of leading alarmists, if you are involved in any way in climate science, you have a financial interest in alarmism. Even minor climate scientists get consulting contracts and are invited to present papers in exotic locales. And if you are not an alarmist, you have little or no chance of cashing in on the billions of dollars in government grants for climate research. http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2011/11/james-hansen-and-the-corruption-of-science.php

American Thinker writes: We learned that the Department of Energy blew even more money on a Robert Kennedy Jr. project, than it did on the already well-known Solyndra fiasco.
Kennedy's company Vantage Point Partners was the major shareholder in a solar energy company, Bright Source. One of Vantage's former principals, Sanjay Wagle, left to work at the Department of Energy, advising on energy grants. In that position he advanced through a $1.4 billion loan guarantee to Bright Source. It was a risky loan and any new jobs the project would have created would have cost us $1 million per job.

Bloomberg writes: The Federal Reserve and the big banks fought for more than two years to keep details of the largest bailout in U.S. history a secret. Now, the rest of the world can see what it was missing.
The Fed didn’t tell anyone which banks were in trouble so deep they required a combined $1.2 trillion on Dec. 5, 2008, their single neediest day. Bankers didn’t mention that they took tens of billions of dollars in emergency loans at the same time they were assuring investors their firms were healthy. And no one call culated until now that banks reaped an estimated $13 billion of income by taking advantage of the Fed’s below-market rates, Bloomberg Markets magazine reports in its January issue. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-11-28/secret-fed-loans-undisclosed-to-congress-gave-banks-13-billion-in-income.html

American Spectator writes: ABC television has just announced that it will unveil a new survivor reality series, "Occupy Whatever!" based on the popular Occupy movement that has popped up in scores of cities across America and is proving to have universal appeal -- not just in the U.S. but also London. (A new group calling itself Occupy Tahiti has just emerged in Papeete, protesting a 2.3 decline in orchid production. A further outrage is that a major Tahitian export, vanilla, is owned by one percent of Tahitians.)
"We think this thing has real legs," said Jarvis T. Bimstein, vice president of reality programming at ABC-TV. "We even test-marketed a couple of Occupy  Whatever! shows in Duluth, Minn., and Vallejo, Calif., that had great numbers. Prosecution of border patrol agent; Obama bans guns from public lands; Eric Holder sues Utah: 92 Representatives support bill banning Congressional insider trading

World Net Daily reports: U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., who apparently unsuccessfully demanded answers from Attorney General Eric Holder about the prosecution of a Border Patrol agent, today was joined by dozens of his colleagues in going over Holder's head to address the questions to Barack Obama.
A copy of the letter, signed by Hunter and 36 other members of Congress, was obtained by Andy Ramirez, president of the Law Enforcement Officers Advocates Council, which is working on the case involving the prosecution of and two-year sentence for agent Jesus Diaz.
After twice being cleared by investigators of wrongdoing, he was prosecuted by the Obama administration and ultimately sentenced to two years for violating the constitutional rights of an illegal alien drug smuggler he caught hauling 75 pounds of marijuana into the U.S.

He was accused of pulling on the juvenile smuggler's arms after they had been handcuffed to make him comply with orders.
"We believe that prosecution of Border Patrol agents, including the case against Agent Diaz, sets a dangerous precedent for handling these issues in the future and could force agents to hesitate in the line of duty posing a risk to their own lives and the lives of others," said the letter to Obama.
The members of Congress want to know Obama's responses to several issues in the case, including:

  • "Agent Diaz was cleared of all wrongdoing in this matter by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Office of the Inspector General and the U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement's Office of Professional Wrongdoing. It was only a contradictory report from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection that provided the basis for the U.S. attorney's office's case."

  • "The prosecution of Agent Diaz was initiated at the request of the Mexican government."

  • "Despite being described by the U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement's Office of Professional Wrongdoing as a witness whose 'credibility is questionable at best,' the smuggler in question was given full immunity and a visa to testify against Agent Diaz."

  • "Testimony from the suspected group of smugglers, including the one in question, changed considerably from what was initially given the night of the arrest to what was attested to in court."
  • Separately, WND has obtained a letter sent by the U.S. attorney's office, dated Nov. 7, 2011, in the Western District of Texas to the Diaz family demanding payment of a nearly $7,000 fine within 30 days.
The government letter specified that the government has placed a lien on all Diaz assets, including the family home held in the name of Diaz's wife, such that the Diaz family cannot sell any assets, including the family home, without the permission of the government.
"This demand letter is another outrage," Ramirez said, "in that the judge at Diaz's sentencing told the family that the government would make no attempt to collect the fine until Diaz had served his prison term."

The Hill reports: Politically vulnerable lawmakers are lining up as co-sponsors of legislation that would ban congressional insider trading.
A “60 minutes” report earlier this month indicated that members of Congress have been trading stocks based on knowledge gained from their positions, a practice that does not violate the law.
Before the report, a House bill that would outlaw the practice only had nine co-sponsors. In the week following the “60 Minutes” segment, that number jumped to 92. Of the 83 additions, 19 are facing competitive reelection races as defined by the Cook Political Report. http://thehill.com/homenews/house/195429-lawmakers-facing-tough-reelection-fights-back-bill-banning-congressional-insider-trading
