The
Supreme Court threw out an $18 million penalty Thursday against a
natural gas company convicted of violating an environmental law.
The court voted 6-3 in favor of Texas-based
Southern Union Co. in an appeal of a penalty imposed for its improper storage of
mercury in a building in Pawtucket, R.I.

The kinds of drones making the
headlines daily are the heavily armed CIA and U.S. Army vehicles which
routinely strike targets in Pakistan - killing terrorists and innocents

But the real
high-tech story of surveillance drones is going on at a much smaller
level, as tiny remote controlled vehicles based on insects are already
likely being deployed.
Over
recent years a range of miniature drones, or micro air vehicles (MAVs),
based on the same physics used by flying insects, have been presented to
the public.
The fear
kicked off in 2007 when reports of bizarre flying objects hovering above
anti-war protests sparked accusations that the U.S. government was
accused of secretly developing robotic insect spies.

statement overturning the Bush administration's previous stance against such a treaty?
Secretary
Clinton supported the talks stating, "Consensus is needed to ensure the
widest possible support for the Treaty and to avoid loopholes in the
Treaty that can be exploited by those wishing to export arms
irresponsibly."

Republicans are charging Attorney General Eric Holder with contempt of
Congress not as part of an investigation into Operation Fast and
Furious, but in order to weaken his ability to prevent voter
suppression.
"They're going after Eric Holder because he is supporting
measures to overturn these voter suppression initiatives in the states,"
Pelosi told reporters during her press briefing today. "This is no
accident, it is no coincidence. It is a plan on the part of Republicans.

Supreme Court: Unions must notify non-union members to give them a chance to protest whenever they raise fees.

an ad-campaign designed to achieve "racial justice" by raising awareness
of "white privilege."
The project disseminates its
message, that "society was setup for us [whites]" and as such is
"unfair," through an aggressive campaign of online videos, billboards,
and lectures. The ads feature a number of Caucasians confessing their
guilt for the supposed "privilege" that comes along with their fair
features.

lawsuit against the secretive Attorney General Eric Holder and the U.S.
Department of Justice to obtain records related to the agency blocking a section of
South Carolina Act R54 that would have required voters to present photo identification when voting.
Judicial Watch originally filed a FOIA application on Feb. 6, 2012
requesting any and all records "regarding, concerning or related to the
Civil Rights Division’s denial of pre-clearance of Section 5 of South
Carolina Act R54 (A27 H3003).
Sadly, as of June 19, the DOJ has failed to comply with the FOIA request, according to officials at Judicial Watch.

Democratic superdelegates from the
Rust Belt are boycotting their party’s convention in North Carolina amid
fears that voting to nominate President Barack Obama for the general
election will doom them to defeat in November.
The
superdelegates, given a vote in the presidential nomination process
because of their status as senior elected officials, want to avoid any
association with Obama, who is politically toxic for many blue collar
voters in the upper Mid-West and Appalachia.
Representative
Mark Critz of Pennsylvania, who has just won a tough Democratic primary
in a newly-drawn district, said he had decided to stay at home rather
than travel to Charlotte for Obama’s formal nomination in early
September.

CBS Evening News devoted a story by David
Martin to the Afghanistan death count reaching 2,000, as Martin
interviewed a mother of a fallen Marine. CBS was alone. There was no
story last week on the Afghanistan death “milestone” on ABC, NBC, the
PBS NewsHour – or even on the MSNBC programs found in Nexis, including Rachel “Our Military’s In a Perilous Drift” Maddow.
But the networks were all more aggressive when the 2,000 mark arrived
in Iraq on October 25, 2005. The Big Three networks devoted 14 morning
and evening news stories to the death toll from October 24 through the
end of October, and another 24 anchor briefs or mentions. They used the
number to spell “disaster for this White House.”
