Pete Hoekstra's past; Wealthy pay far more than their fair share; NAACP's I.D. requirement; Americans like AZ immigration laws; The best golden parachute; Agenda 21 and Rio+20; Air Force base converted to training drone operators; Utah Garden Challenge - beware, gardeners; Another Obamacare lie exposed; Dancing couple arrested by ninja cops; Obama's half-brother makes film debut

Do you need another reason to vote for Pete Hoekstra - other than how experienced he is from being on the House Intelligence Committee, helping to develop the Contract with America, helping to overturn the results of a corrupt union election, being endorsed by the Michigan Right to Life, working for energy independence and getting straight A's from the NRA?  The Pete Hoekstra I read about on Facebook is not the one I know.  Check out this one minute video of Hoestra's response to Obamacare: https://transaxt.com/Donate/MKAPVV/HoekstraforSenate/#3-

Wealthy Americans earn about 50 percent of all income but pay nearly 70 percent of the federal tax burden, according to the latest analysis Tuesday by the Congressional Budget Office — though the agency said the very richest have seen their share of taxes fall the past few years.
CBO looked at 2007 through 2009 — the latest years data are available, but enough to include the early effects of the last recession — and found the bottom 20 percent of American earners paid just three-tenths of a percent of the total federal tax burden, while the richest 20 percent paid 67.9 percent of taxes.
The top 1 percent, whom President Obama has made a target during the presidential campaign, earned 13.4 percent of all pre-tax income but paid 22.3 percent of taxes in 2009, CBO said. When tax burden is figured in, the top 1 percent took in only 11.5 percent of income. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/jul/10/cbo-rich-pay-outsized-share-taxes/

After the Supreme Court upheld Arizona’s law allowing police to check immigration status of those they stop in the course of their duties, an overwhelming majority of Americans say they want to see their own states enact the same kinds of laws.
The latest The Washington Times/JZ Analytics survey, released Monday night, found about two-thirds of all likely voters would like to see their own police be able to check status during routine traffic stops. Support was high across most demographics, including self-identified Republicans and independents, and even Hispanics favored the policy by a 55 percent to 41 percent margin. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/jul/10/poll-voters-still-want-arizona-style-immigration-l/

In the history of golden parachutes it has to be the most generous of them all.
The former boss of the largest electricity company in the US is to get a $44m payoff - for just 20 minutes work.
Bill Johnson was in charge of the newly merged Prospect Energy and Duke Energy for less than an hour before he was ousted.
According to Securities filings he could walk away with the colossal farewell package in what a former colleague has called ‘the most blatant example of corporate deceit’ he had ever seen.
Utilities regulators are now considering investigating his abrupt resignation amid protests from shareholders.

The world’s judges, prosecutors and legal experts have adopted a powerful call to action to build capacity for implementation and enforcement of national environmental laws at the conclusion of UNEP’s Rio+20 side event on justice, law, and governance. “The Rio+20 Declaration on Justice, Governance and Law for Environmental Sustainability” recognizes the critical importance of national compliance promotion as part of an effective governance strategy to meet green economy and sustainable development objectives.
The Declaration was the outcome of the first ever gathering of more than 200 Chief Justices, Attorneys General, Auditors General, Chief Prosecutors, and other high-ranking representatives of the judicial, legal and auditing professions during the World Congress on Justice, Governance and Law for Environmental Sustainability held on 17-20 June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro.
Following four days of discussions on the role of these communities in achieving environmental sustainability, the participants reached agreement to adopt the Declaration, which stresses the primacy of strong enforcement institutions and underscores the importance of networking among its main actors. http://inece.org/2012/06/27/world_congress_declaration/  [International Network for Environmental Compliance and Enforcement]

Today many of the pilots at Holloman never get off the ground. The base has been converted into the U.S. Air Force’s primary training center for drone operators, where pilots spend their days in sand-colored trailers near a runway from which their planes take off without them. Inside each trailer, a pilot flies his plane from a padded chair, using a joystick and throttle, as his partner, the “sensor operator,” focuses on the grainy images moving across a video screen, directing missiles to their targets with a laser.
Holloman sits on almost 60,000 acres of desert badlands, near jagged hills that are frosted with snow for several months of the year — a perfect training ground for pilots who will fly Predators and Reapers over the similarly hostile terrain of Afghanistan. When I visited the base earlier this year with a small group of reporters, we were taken into a command post where a large flat-screen television was broadcasting a video feed from a drone flying overhead. It took a few seconds to figure out exactly what we were looking at. A white S.U.V. traveling along a highway adjacent to the base came into the cross hairs in the center of the screen and was tracked as it headed south along the desert road. When the S.U.V. drove out of the picture, the drone began following another car.
“Wait, you guys practice tracking enemies by using civilian cars?” a reporter asked. One Air Force officer responded that this was only a training mission, and then the group was quickly hustled out of the room. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/08/magazine/the-drone-zone.html?_r=2&pagewanted=all

The Utah Garden Challenge is a voluntary contest to register 10,000 gardens. The data mining project has a broad interest in any “resource” who is growing food:
Whether you grow a tomato in a pot, a row in a community garden, have backyard gardens, a CSA or working fruit and vegetable farm, we want to hear from you because you are an important resource as a food producer.
While the contest paints a proud face on independent food production, it is important to remember that registering with the government sets up a system to track, tax, permit or confiscate the registered item. Gun ownership is a good example of this scheme.
According to a pop-up window on the official website, participants’ gardens will be registered with the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS):

Another lie from the Obama administration has been exposed,” said Charles Benninghoff,Publisher of American Patriot. “Based on the evidence that was provided to us,we now know that many American workers are already being impacted negatively by Obamacare.”
Among the evidence that American Patriot has published, the source’s employer asked for an exemption from Obamacare until 2013 in order to avoid providing $1.25 million in coverage for every worker. Once the exemption was granted, the employee benefits were reduced to just 10 percent of what was originally provided.
“Our source and other Americans with health problems now have to make a painful choice,” said Benninghoff. “They can either find their own coverage, which will be even more expensive,or go on the government-run Obamacare scheme. Most Americans don’t want to opt for a government program, but they’re being forced into it – which was the plan of the Obama administration all along.” http://www.exposeobama.com/2012/07/10/whistleblower-tells-american-patriot-that-obamacare-destroys-health-coverage/

It was nearly midnight when Stern and Hess, a film-industry prop master, headed home last July from Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night’s Swing. As they waited for the train, a musician started playing steel drums on the nearly empty platform and Stern and Hess began to feel the beat.
“We were doing the Charleston,” Stern said. That’s when two police officers approached and pulled a “Footloose.”
“They said, ‘What are you doing?’ and we said, ‘We’re dancing,’ ” she recalled. “And they said, ‘You can’t do that on the platform.’ ”
The cops asked for ID, but when Stern could only produce a credit card, the officers ordered the couple to go with them — even though the credit card had the dentist’s picture and signature.
When the couple tried to film the order, Stern says the officers called for backup.
“That’s when eight ninja cops came from out of nowhere,” she said.  Her boyfriend was allegedly tackled to the floor, and then both were handcuffed.
The initial charge was reportedly disorderly conduct for “impeding the flow of traffic,” but Stern argued that “there were like, three people [on the platform].”

An interview with George Obama, who lives in a hut in Kenya "like something out of 'Slumdog Millionaire'" is featured in the upcoming movie "2016: Obama's America."

Barack Obama’s half-brother, George Obama, is about to make his film debut, and in a feature-length documentary that is critical of the president, no less.
