My Boyne City Gazette column - Who needs Congress - Part VI

President Obama recently said, "So I want to send a clear message to Congress.  Do not slow down the recovery that we're on. Don't muck it up. Keep it moving in the right direction." This sort of speech is neither eloquent nor inspiring and shows no reverence for the office.
Here are regulations and laws #64-75, and counting:

1)      New regulations force Christian organizations to provide health insurance that covers contraceptives, sterilizations and abortion drugs for employees.  Since this violates the beliefs of Catholics, the Catholic Churches read a letter at their services condemning the overreach of government in abridging their rights of religious freedom.  For them, following the law will actually be a sin.  The military then told Catholic Chaplains what they could and could not say about the new Obamacare regulations. In whose view is this Separation of Church and State?
2)      Doctors who follow Obamacare’s 194 stipulated metrics of treatment will be immune from lawsuits and will receive higher fees!  This includes government’s decisions on which medical treatments are “worthwhile” (otherwise known as Death Panels), as well as maintaining electronic records.
3)      The Obama administration announced as much as $1 billion in funding to hire, train and deploy health-care workers as part of Obamacare, at taxpayer expense, of course.  This comes at the same time they continue to say that Obamacare will save taxpayer money.  This is a result of the unbridled power given to the Secretary of Health and Human services to set any regulation she desires, without input from Congress, such as regulation #1 above.
4)      The Department of Homeland Security has a Media Monitoring Initiative which provides legal permission for government to collect and retain personal information from journalists, news anchors, reporters or anyone who used “traditional and/or social media to keep their audience situationally aware and informed.”  I am sure my news service may be monitored.  Big Brother just got more unbridled power.
5)      This President decided that one law of the land, the Defense of Marriage Act, is in his view unconstitutional.  President Obama has therefore declared that the law will no longer be defended by government in the courts of America.  Before you cheer this action, consider what you would think if a future President decides he believes the Civil Rights Act, or Roe vs Wade, is unconstitutional - and then fails to defend it.
6)      Homeland Security now compares terrorism to “ordinary crime” in America.  Islam is not mentioned.  “Significant variability in the ideologies motivating terrorist attacks across decades” is mentioned.
7)      As part of our President’s planned and continued outreach to Muslims, President Obama recently hired a special Homeland Security adviser, Mohamed Elibiary.  He supports a radical Islamist theologian who uses jihadist language.  Also created was a Muslim Engagement Advisory Group to “foster greater communication, collaboration and a new level of respect between law enforcement and Muslim and Arab-American communities.
8)      Re-named ACORN entities were funded with at least $730,000 last year in spite of powerful evidence of corruption and in spite of actively being defunded by Congress.
9)      A flyer designed by the FBI and the Department of Justice to promote suspicious activity reporting in internet cafes lists basic tools used for online privacy as potential signs of terrorist activity.  Beware of internet cafes.
10)  The Presidential Climate Action Project last year released an extensive list of recommendations for the White House in a 75-page paper entitled, “Building the Obama Administration’s Climate Legacy.”  Keep your eyes open.
11)   Our Immigration and Customs Enforcement has a newly named post of "public advocate" for illegal aliens. Illegals who broke our laws by sneaking into our country are now protected from our government - by our government.

Is it the right of the President to usurp Congress and the Courts when he doesn’t agree with their actions?  Do you think this is okay?  The Constitution does not give the President of the United States the authority to declare laws of the land.  Our Constitution denotes a Separation of Powers: The Legislative, the Executive, and the Judicial branches, along with the checks and balances they provide.  The oath he took was to defend our Constitution, not rewrite it.

GM won't pay corporate taxes for 10 yrs.; Agenda 21; Nuclear weapons to be cut by 80%!; Massachusetts Kickback on Obamacare; High school student quits choir over Islamic song; Mafia-style shakedown of Komen Foundation; Teaching children that "it takes a [government] village; Pelosi all for Catholic church paying for contraception; Al Gore's blueprint for "sustainable capitalism"; USDA visits Kentucky school; Congressmen object government overreach; Congress will attempt to new union election rules & EPA rules; Republicans want to shift education control to states

[The recent withdrawal of pensions for the white collar worker at GM needs to be seen for what it is. The pensions they do have are to be converted to 401(k)s which are not protected from market fluctuations as are the union pensions. GM still owes America over $14billion dollars - well, not really, for Obama said they don't have to pay us back.  Who owns GM now that Obama's sold all our stock in the company?  If you said the unions, you would be right, for that is who were given the most shares of stock in the settlement made with the Obama administration.  What you need to keep in mind is that the UNION members will NOT be losing their pension plan, health care benefits, or bonuses.  Does it not look as if the unions are now in position to punish the white collar workers who kept them from even higher wages and benefits?  Yes, it does.  GM just announced that their 2011 profits were their largest ever!  Do we remember that part of the settlement included the fact that GM does not have to pay any corporate income tax for 10 years?  Now - where is Occupy Obama?]
GM, which plans to begin promoting its relisting on the stock exchange to investors this week, wiped out billions of dollars in debt, laid off thousands of employees and jettisoned money-losing brands during its U.S.-funded reorganization last year. [My oh my - this sounds just like what Mitt Romney is being condemned for doing!]
Now it turns out, according to documents filed with federal regulators, the revamping left the car maker with another boost as it prepares to return to the stock market. It won't have to pay $45.4 billion in taxes on future profits. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704462704575590642149103202.html

World Net Daily reports: Anyone who reads Chapter 7 of Agenda 21 and then reads his local comprehensive land-use plan will immediately recognize that most of the provisions of the local land-use plan come directly from Agenda 21. More often than not, the elected officials who adopt these plans have never read Agenda 21, and many have never even heard of the U.N. document, signed by President George H.W. Bush in 1992.
In the case of the U.S., our local authorities are engaged in planning processes consistent with LA21 [Local Agenda 21], but there is little interest in using the LA21 brand. … So, we call our processes something else, such as comprehensive planning, growth management or smart growth.
In community after community, the same scenario is repeated. The federal government, through the EPA or the Department of Commerce or the Department of Interior, offers special grants to communities for the purpose of developing a vision for a greener future and a plan to convert the vision into reality.
The plans are necessarily so long and complex that few people ever read them, other than the professional planners and enforcement officials. Many, if not most, of these comprehensive plans incorporate many, if not most, of the codes developed by the International Codes Council. Here are some of the codes:
International Building Code International Residential Code International Fire Code International Energy Conservation Code International Private Sewage Disposal Code International Mechanical Code International Fuel Gas Code International Wildland-Urban Interface Code ICC Performance Code International Existing Building Code International Property Maintenance Code International Zoning Code International Green Construction Code

AP reports: The Obama administration is weighing options for sharp new cuts to the U.S. nuclear force, including a reduction of up to 80 percent in the number of deployed weapons, The Associated Press has learned.
The potential cuts would be from a current treaty limit of 1,550 deployed strategic warheads.
A level of 300 deployed strategic nuclear weapons would take the U.S. back to levels not seen since 1950 when the nation was ramping up production in an arms race with the Soviet Union. The U.S. numbers peaked at above 12,000 in the late 1980s and first dropped below 5,000 in 2003.

Free Beacon reports: [It sure does pay to be a friend of Obama and his minions] Massachusetts hospitals are poised to receive a $3.5 billion windfall in federal funding over the next 10 years thanks to a little-known provision Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) inserted into the Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act, also known as “Obamacare.”
The increased funding—$367 million a year in the form of Medicare reimbursement payments, according to the Federal Register—would not only come at the expense of hospitals in the 49 other states, but would also directly benefit an organization that has given generously to Kerry’s campaign.
The obscure policy change was formally approved by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in July 2011.
Because the amendment required that such payment adjustments be budget neutral at the federal level—meaning all increases for one state must be offset with reductions elsewhere—hospitals in the 49 other states will collectively lose about $367 million in annual Medicare payments to offset the additional funding for Massachusetts.
Federal agencies responsible for overseeing Medicare payments raised concerns about this very sort of manipulation. http://freebeacon.com/the-kerry-kickback/

Fox News writes: A Colorado high school student says he quit the school choir after an Islamic song containing the lyric "there is no truth except Allah" made it into the repertoire.
James Harper, a senior at Grand Junction High School in Grand Junction, put his objection to singing "Zikr," a song written by Indian composer A.R. Rahman, in an email to Mesa County School District 51 officials. When the school stood by choir director Marcia Wieland's selection, Harper said, he quit.
"I don’t want to come across as a bigot or a racist, but I really don’t feel it is appropriate for students in a public high school to be singing an Islamic worship song,” Harper told KREX-TV. "This is worshipping another God, and even worshipping another prophet ... I think there would be a lot of outrage if we made a Muslim choir say Jesus Christ is the only truth."
The song is written in Urdu, but one verse translates to "There is no truth except Allah" and "Allah is the only eternal and immortal." Although the choir sang the original version, Wieland distributed translated lyrics.

[I recently watched a video wherein college students were asked political questions.  You will be appalled at their answers!
Name one Democrat candidate for President: can't name
Who is our Vice President?: Bin Laden, George Bush, and Bill Clinton
In what war did America gain her independence?: Civil War, That war, and Korean War
What countries border America?: South  America, too many to remember one, Utopia
Name one country starting with the letter U: Europe, Utopia
How many stars are on the American flag?: 51, 52, 53
Heaven help our country!  Do we not see the result of decades of progressive, feel-good, environmental indoctrinating, anti-capitalism, entitlement mentality education?]

Natural News reports: That's the first highly disturbing part of this entire story. See, the corrupt state is trying to take over everything, including the American family. Telling little Johnny that his mom packed an "inferior" lunch is one way of teaching children that they should worship the state instead of their parents. It's entirely consistent with the actions of pathetic child health sellouts such as California Governor Jerry Brown who recently signed a law giving 12-year-old children the right to "consent" to being injected with Gardasil vaccines as long as they don't tell their parents. Weekly Standard writes: House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said Thursday morning that the government should require self-insured religious institutions, such as the Catholic church in Washington, D.C., to directly pay for contraception and abortifacients.
At a press conference, Leader Pelosi was asked by THE WEEKLY STANDARD: "The Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., is a self-insured institution. Should the Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., be required to pay for these morning-after pills and birth control if they find that morally objectionable?"
Pelosi talked about the importance of women's health, and then said, "Yes, I think that all institutions who cover, who give, health insurance should cover the full range of health insurance issues for women." http://www.weeklystandard.com/daily/daily.asp

Reuters reports: Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore wants to end the default practice of quarterly earnings guidance and explore issuing loyalty-driven securities as part of an overhaul of capitalism which he says has turned many of the world's largest economies into hotbeds of irresponsible short-term investment.
Together with David Blood, senior partner of 'green' fund firm Generation Investment Management, the environmental activist has crafted a blueprint for "sustainable capitalism" he wants the financial industry to adopt to support lasting economic growth.
One interesting item follows: Companies have also been encouraged to integrate financial reporting with insight on environmental, social and governance policy so investors can clearly see how performance in the latter can contribute to the former.http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/02/16/sustainablecapitalism-idUSL5E8DG45E20120216

Western Journalism reports:  House Republicans are pushing ahead with a plan to update the federal No Child Left Behind education law by shifting more control to states and school districts.
A hearing Thursday comes days after President Barack Obama freed 11 states from some of the law's most stringent rules.
To get the waivers, states had to submit plans and get the administration's approval. The administration says it's a stop-gap measure until Congress updates the law. Most agree it needs fixing.
House Education and Workforce Committee Chairman John Kline spoke at a hearing Thursday. Kline says the president's plan still ties schools to a failing law.
Kline's bill would have states develop their own systems to identify low-performing schools and turn them around.  http://www.westernjournalism.com/house-gop-lawmakers-push-plan-to-update-ed-law/

Expose the Media reports on what was on Breitbart tv: Wednesday on the The Ed Schultz Radio Show Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee railed against Republicans, even calling into question their faith. She also claimed that this is the only time in American history that the opposing political party wanted to defeat the sitting President in an election.
[Apparently she never received the request of her President to tone down rhetoric so as not to inflame crazy people to do wrong.] "The mantra of the Republican party is, do no work, help no one, take away the highest essence of all religious faith, love and charity"  [I'm sure she will be a spokesman for Obama's new African Americans for Obama Group, and her words will be believed by ignorant (not dumb) blacks who don't do their homework and voted for Obama just because  he is black, as did actor Samuel L. Jackson.  It seems I recall Vice President Al Gore screaming that George Bush betrayed America: “He betrayed this country! He played on our fears! [edit jump] He took America, he took America on an ill-conceived foreign adventure dangerous to our troops, an adventure that was preordained and planned before 9-11 ever took place!” Harry Reid called him a loser and a liar whose war in Iraq is lost; and Barack Obama said: The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents – #43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back — $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic.  I guess they all did it because George W. Drudge reports: Rep. Scott Garrett (R., N.J.) had a nice gambit just now in a hearing with President Obama's acting OMB director Jeffrey Zients.

First he asked Zients if the Obama budget imposes any new taxes on Americans making less than $200,000. When Zients answered that it did not, Garrett followed up by asking if an individual making less than $200,000 a year opted not to carry health insurance, in contravention of the Affordable Care Act, is the fine associated with that decision a tax?

After some hemming and hawing, Zients answered that the fine did not constitute an tax. Which is a problem, considering the Obama administration's entire case before the Supreme Court is premised on those fines being construed as taxes, not penalties. http://www.drudge.com/news/153546/obama-omb-jeffrey-zients-steps

Daily Caller reports: Congressional Republicans are now interested in examining Media Matters For America‘s tax-exempt status, The Daily Caller has learned. Doing so would cause the GOP to wade into the complex world of tax laws that govern “exempt organizations” such as Media Matters and more than 1 million other charitable organizations that are exempt from federal income tax.
Media Matters’ critics have questioned its tax-exempt status for some time. The Internal Revenue Service has a series of requirements that must be met before organizations can qualify. Successful applicants pay no federal income tax because the government presumes such charities perform services that benefit the public. Donors also may deduct their charitable contributions.

Townhall writes: President Barack Obama recently assured El Salvador that the United States would not deport more 200,000 Salvadorans residing illegally in the United States. As the election nears, and the president looks to court Hispanic voters, he also created a new position of "public advocate" for illegal immigrants. His duties would appear to be to advocate that millions circumvent, rather than follow, current federal law.
The administration has also said it will focus enforcement only on those who have committed crimes -- with the implicit understanding that it is no longer a crime to illegally enter and reside in the United States. In contrast, Obama has caricatured those supporting completion of a fence on the border as wanting to place alligators in the Rio Grande.
It is time that Americans revisit the issue and ponder very carefully the morality of entering the United States illegally.
True, American employers have welcomed in illegal aliens as a source of cheap labor. Employers were happy to pass the ensuing social costs on to taxpayers. To summarily deport those who have resided here for 20 years, obeyed the law, worked hard, stayed off public assistance and are now willing to pay a fine, demonstrate English proficiency and pass a citizenship test would be impracticable, callous and counterproductive.
Most, however, probably do not fit those reasonable criteria.
Billions of dollars in state and federal social services do not just help provide parity to illegal aliens, but also free them to send back about $50 billion in remittances to Latin America each year.  http://townhall.com/columnists/victordavishanson/2012/02/16/please_a_little_honesty_about_illegal_immigration/page/full/

Galileo High School celebrated Valentine’s Day in a style befitting San Francisco on Tuesday as hundreds of students lined up to “marry” their sweethearts regardless of gender, sexual orientation or relationship status.
They then learned how to correctly put on a condom using goggles that gave them a drunken view of things, and played a variety of games that promoted safer sex.

Students at Galileo High School were given extra credit points for putting a condom on a wooden penis for Valentine’s Day. The school’s annual “Love Fest” drew hundred of teens in the school’s central courtyard.
While a federal appeals court in San Francisco only last week ruled that a California ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional, Galileo students and staff said their fake teen weddings had nothing to do with that. The event, sponsored by the Gay Straight Alliance and the Wellness Center, tried to promote acceptance and tolerance at school and safe decisions in the intimate moments that could happen at that age. http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/02/students-get-extra-credit-points-for-putting-condom-on-wooden-penis/

Michelle Malkin writes: A group with the ability to shape news coverage is of incalculable value to the politicians it supports, so it’s no surprise that Media Matters has been in regular contact with political operatives in the Obama administration. According to visitor logs, on June 16, 2010, Brock and then-Media Matters president Eric Burns traveled to the White House for a meeting with Valerie Jarrett, arguably the president’s closest adviser. Recently departed Obama communications director Anita Dunn returned to the White House for the meeting as well.

Media Matters also began a weekly strategy call with the White House, which continues, joined by the liberal Center for American Progress think tank. Daily Caller further explains: [Meet Media Matters, a scourge on American media]: Here’s a perfect example of how Media Matters operates. As you read earlier today — and if you haven’t, go read the whole thing — back in Sept. ’09 a Media Matters “senior fellow” named Karl Frisch wrote the following in an internal memo to his bosses:
“Simply put,” Frisch wrote, “the progressive movement is in need of an enemy. George W. Bush is gone. We really don’t have John McCain to kick around any more. Filling the lack of leadership on the right, Fox News has emerged as the central enemy and antagonist of the Obama administration, our Congressional majorities and the progressive movement as a whole.”
We must take Fox News head-on in a well funded, presidential-style campaign to discredit and embarrass the network, making it illegitimate in the eyes of news consumers.”
And then there was some stuff about how to implement this campaign, such as hiring private investigators to dig into the private lives of Fox News employees and other highly ethical ideas. [They have been found to have actually written the newscasts for MSNBC and NBC.  Such fair reporting!]

National Review writes: [Did you know this history of Margaret Sanger and Planned Parenthood?  It puts a whole new light on the subject.]When a bunch of wealthy white women and elite Washington bureaucrats defend the trampling of religious liberties in the name of “increased access” to “reproductive services” for “poor” women, the ghost of Margaret Sanger is cackling.
As she wrote in her autobiography, Sanger founded Planned Parenthood in 1916 “to stop the multiplication of the unfit.” This, she boasted, would be “the most important and greatest step towards race betterment.” While she oversaw the mass murder of black babies, Sanger cynically recruited minority activists to front her death racket. She conspired with eugenics financier and businessman Clarence Gamble to “hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities” to sell their genocidal policies as community health and welfare services.
Outright murder wouldn’t sell. But wrapping it under the egalitarian cloak of “women’s health” — and adorning it with the moral authority of black churches — would. Sanger and Gamble called their deadly campaign “The Negro Project.” http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/290717/lsquoto-stop-multiplication-unfitrsquo-michelle-malkin

Daily Caller writes: In another line of questioning, Stephanopoulos asked Romney[in the debate] if he believes “that states have the right to ban contraception, or is that trumped by a constitutional right to privacy?”
Romney responded by questioning Stephanopoulos’ logic and his choice to raise a hypothetical situation that would never happen.
“You’re asking — given the fact that there’s no state that wants to do so, and I don’t know of any candidate that wants to do so — you’re asking could it constitutionally be done?” Romney asked, with a hint of incredulity.
Stephanopoulos, undeterred, pressed Romney again: “I’m asking you, do you believe that states have that right or not?”
Amid a chorus of “boos” from the audience, Romney again parried the impossible hypothetical.
“George, I don’t know whether a state has a right to ban contraception,” Romney responded. “No state wants to. I mean, the idea of you putting forward things that states might want to do that no state wants to do, and asking me whether they could do it or not, is kind of a silly thing, I think.”  Well, it turns out not to be a silly question, as it has been positited that it was a deliberate question to aid Obama in his campaign.  You see, shortly thereafter, Obama regulated the abortion pill and contraceptive issue which is all the talk this week.  It seems that a plot has been uncovered to move the conversation away from blaming the Republicans for being against legal abortions and toward the mantra that Republicans would probably ban contraception if they receive the power to do so. News Busters writes: Former Clinton adviser Dick Morris on Monday accused ABC’s George Stephanopoulos of being a “paid Democratic hitman.”
Appearing on Fox News’s Hannity, Morris also said Stephanopoulos was “under orders” to ask Mitt Romney all those contraception questions during ABC’s January 7 Republican presidential debate in New Hampshire

DICK MORRIS: Obama did not make a mistake in this mandate. It’s a deliberately calculated move on his part. The Democrats realize that abortion is no longer a winner for them. It used to be ten points more pro-choice than pro-Life, now it’s ten points more pro-Life than pro-choice possibly because of the publicity of the anti-abortion people, possibly because of the aging of the population. But the point is that it’s a loser issue. So what they’re trying to do now is replace it with contraception.
So the first piece of evidence was after Santorum won Iowa, the first controversy was, “Do you think states should have the right to ban contraception?” Where did that come from? Then you remember that ABC debate with that paid Democratic hitman George Stephanopoulos went after Romney trying to…
They want to create the impression that the Republicans will ban contraception, which is totally insane, but they’re floating it out and they’re bringing it out there. And this move on Obama’s part was part of injecting that issue.

American Thinker opines: History is replete with great men like Barack Obama -- transformational leaders of wide renown, seeking to shape history in their own image, never realizing it is not great men who make history; it is history which makes great men.
Our president has never been more than an epigone of a great man.  And the cold glare of history will see Barack Obama for the man he truly is -- and it will not matter what the meaning of "is" is.
"The world will little note, nor long remember" Barack Obama, because contrary to his own opinion, he is the nation's worst president.  He is an arrogant, hyper-partisan, race-baiting, committed socialist -- a man whose deliberate attempts to transform the nation into a banana republic, with pictures of himself on the side of every building, have been thwarted only by his need to win one more election.
The world knows that Obama worships at the altar of Obama, but what I don't understand is why so many Americans and the press buy into his self-delusional perception of magnificence.  From his first day in office, he has made one bad decision after another, ham-handedly making the nation's situation worse at every turn.
Opposing a president was patriotic when it was opposition to a president opposed by liberals -- now it is simply racist.  You see, to be against a great man like our president is to be a bigot.  Barack Obama and his minions will always judge a man by the color of his skin and not by the content of his character.
Isn't it amazing how far the great Barack Obama has taken the nation in such a short time?  Does anyone believe he will be a better leader when he doesn't have to worry about our votes?
Certainly he will give us more change, but hope will have to wait until 2016. [This entire article is well worth reading!] Read more: http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/02/obama_the_great.html#ixzz1mSNPZ8jI

Say what???!!!!!  President Obama announced: "Today, we're announcing the 2012 launch of African Americans for Obama."  I wonder what would happen if I began a "European Americans for Conservatives" group.  Do you think I would be in trouble and be called a racist?  Me too.  This video is unbelievable!  So watch it yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdjoHA5ocwU

Glenn Beck reports: The Obama campaign today is beginning a new effort to enlist and educate at least two million supporters for a grassroots communications team they’re calling the Truth Team. [Here we go again.] The goal is to ensure that when the Republicans attack President Obama’s record, grassroots supporters can take ownership of the campaign and share the facts with the undecided voters in their lives. The teams will be launched in thirteen swing states including Iowa, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, and Virginia. The rollout includes a social media blitz directing supporters to three new websites, KeepingHisWord.com, keepingGOPhonest.com, and attackwatch.com. If the other guys are going to run a campaign based on misrepresenting the president’s record ‑‑ oh, my gosh ‑‑ and their own we have two options: Sit back and let these lies go unchallenged or fight back with the truth, says the Obama deputy campaign manager. The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes in her More at Four classroom that day.

The Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs — including in-home day care centers — to meet USDA guidelines. That means lunches must consist of one serving of meat, one serving of milk, one serving of grain, and two servings of fruit or vegetables, even if the lunches are brought from home.

When home-packed lunches do not include all of the required items, child care providers must supplement them with the missing ones.

Daily Caller writes: Protesters at the “Occupy CPAC” event, organized by the AFL-CIO and Occupy DC to target the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, were unaware of what they were protesting against Friday afternoon.
The Daily Caller spoke to several protesters outside of the conference venue and many said they had no idea what the Conservative Political Action Conference was, or what they were supposed to be opposing.

The Gateway Pundit writes about Rahm: Emanuel’s proposal would require all handgun owners to obtain a certificate of registration from the State Police for every handgun they own — at a cost of $65-per-weapon — and to renew that registration every five years.
They would be required to provide: their name, address and telephone number; the manufacturer of the gun, its model type and serial number; and the date and source of the purchase.
Whenever a handgun is sold, the seller would be required to report the sale to the State Police “no less than 48 hours prior to delivery.” Handgun buyers would have 20 days to file for a new certificate of registration. Anyone caught carrying or possessing an unregistered handgun would face a Class 2 felony.
If gun owners cannot afford to pay the $65 fee for each gun they must turn their guns in to local law enforcement for destruction.  Punishment for not complying is a Class 2 Felony.  How unfortunate for the rest of the good people of Illinois to have the scourge of Chicago in their state.  And this fresh on the heels of signing a check for $399,950 to the Second Amendment Foundation after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Chicago’s ban on handguns…because it was unconstitutionalhttp://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/02/obamas-chief-of-staff-exposes-obamas-true-intentions-for-radical-gun-control-in-the-u-s/

[I just listened to the speech of Andrew Breitbart at the CPAC convention.  Saying, "This is my war cry!", he stated that Occupy is at war with us.  While dining with Weather Underground members Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorn, he was told that Occupy is more or less the anti-war crowd of old.  Breitbart  stated that class warfare and racial division are central to Obama's Hope and Change and that this election is between America - and Occupy, saying, "Ask not what the candidate can do for you - ask what you can do for our candidate."  As a paraphrase of President George W. Bush, he ended his speech with, " If you don't stand for all Republican candidate [making sure you vote], you are on the other side!"  He also stated that Obama WILL be vetted this time and that he has videos of Obama while he was in college. He said that conservatives have "taken" it for too long and they are not "taking" the left's tactics any more.
He was encouraged by the fact that when the Occupy crowd was disruptive outside the hall, 200 CPAC attendees went out to confront Occupy and to chant USA! to drown them out.]

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which had led opposition to the regulation, issued a statement saying that they didn't believe their concerns were addressed by a new policy offered by President Barack Obama on Friday morning to allow religious employers who object to the use of birth control to turn over responsibility for covering it to insurance companies.  http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203646004577217181415407806.html?mod=WSJ_hp_LEFTTopStories

[Lies, lies, lies - if that's what it takes.....]  ABC News reports: As President Obama prepares to unveil his FY2013 budget Monday, White House chief of staff Jack Lew this morning was asked by CNN to defend the Senate’s refusal to pass a budget in more than 1,000 days.
“You can’t pass a budget in the Senate of the United States without 60 votes and you can’t get 60 votes without bipartisan support,” Lew said. “So unless… unless Republicans are willing to work with Democrats in the Senate, [Majority Leader] Harry Reid is not going to be able to get a budget passed.”
That’s not accurate. Budgets only require 51 Senate votes for passage, as Lew — former director of the Office of Management and Budget — surely must know.
White House officials did not dispute that Lew misspoke. When asked about the discrepancy, a White House official said “the chief of staff was clearly referencing the general gridlock in Congress that makes accomplishing even the most basic tasks nearly impossible given the Senate Republicans’ insistence on blocking an up or down vote on nearly every issue.” http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/02/wh-chief-of-staff-errs-on-senate-budget-rules/

Commentary Magazine writes: Let’s take a look at the president’s semantics of late. In no accidental turn of phrase, he called his change regarding contraception “an accommodation” for those who have moral objections. Why didn’t he call it “a compromise,” which is what it supposedly is?
I suspect the reason has to do with the president’s great-pyramid-of-Giza-sized ego.

An accommodation is something handed out beneficently to those who have a problem. We accommodate people in wheelchairs on public transportation, we accommodate people with food allergies or religious needs by providing alternative meals. A compromise is something agreed to jointly by equals (it comes from the Latin for a mutual promise). Obama, in his own mind, has no equals. Hence, he is “accommodating” these people with their annoying moral scruples so at variance with liberal orthodoxy.
Likewise, the other day he told NBC’s Matt Lauer the reason he had been unable to be as transformational a president as he would have liked was that he had been unable to “force” Congress to pass his programs. What an interesting choice of words. [I didn't realize that a President has the constitutional authority to "force" his will - he is to convince others to follow.  Would-be dictator, is he?] http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2012/02/12/obama-compromise-and-congress/#more-783507

American Thinker opines: How many times will the American people have to be hit over the head before they understand that Barack Obama is the most corrupt, dictatorial, and ideologically driven president in American history?  That his entire being and psyche are devoted to transforming the country not only into a socialist utopia, but into a nation permanently governed by a radical oligarchy?
Yet so many seem to not care or are deliberately oblivious to the long-term implications of his actions, many of which mirror those of the despots that ran roughshod over the last century.
The recent ruling by the Obama Department of Health and Human Services forcing religious institutions to provide either directly or through private insurance not only contraceptives, but abortion pills and sterilization is not a matter of so-called women's rights, but a means of setting the precedent and foundation to force organized religion to be subservient to the state.

The passage of ObamaCare, from which this edict stems, has nothing to do with healthcare; rather, it is a vehicle to ultimately control the day-to-day activities of the American people through the dictates and mandates emanating from an overarching bureaucracy.  Once fully implemented, individual liberty and freedom, the hallmarks of the nation's history, will be eradicated forever.
In furtherance of Obama's transformative goals, he and his minions are in the process of shackling the free market through unfettered government control and influence.  It is the aim of the Obama presidency to create a so-called "government-business partnership" wherein the government chooses the winners and losers based upon their allegiance to and support of the regime.
The massive spending and debt incurred over the past three years are the byproduct of Obama's overarching objective to make certain that the overwhelming majority of the populace becomes, by necessity, dependent on the government, thus more subservient and easily controlled.  Whether the country becomes insolvent or the middle class ceases to exist is immaterial.
The history of the United States and its traditions of liberty and individual freedom should be a bulwark against the successful emergence of someone like Barack Obama and his cronies.  Yet the majority of the citizenry, the media, the opposition party, the members of Congress, and the judiciary are not shouting from the highest hilltop and taking action to stop the Obama regime's unconstitutional acts and power-grabs.
Perhaps it is as it was in Germany, Italy, and Russia among many -- a belief that the worst could never happen here.
Either the citizens, on the 6th of November 2012, will choose to reverse course and return to the basic tenets of freedom and liberty upon which the nation was founded, or the people will choose to blindly follow Barack Obama on a path which will eventuate in internal chaos and violence as well as subservience to those countries who wish to see the end of America's time on the world stage. The Washington Examiner writes: Here are four facts that ought to scare the daylights out of every person who cares about preserving individual freedom, economic opportunity and American self-reliance
• Takers get more than makers: Individuals received on average $32,748 worth of benefits annually in 2010, the most recent year for which full data is available. By comparison, the average personal disposable income of tax-paying Americans was $32,446.
• More takers mean more costs for taxpayers: An estimated 67.3 million people in America depended on government for food stamps, retirement income, health care, job training and a host of other benefits. As a result, the dependency index rose 8.1 percent in 2010 over 2009, at a cost to taxpayers of $2.5 trillion.
• Fewer makers to support each taker: Just as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher predicted, sooner or later the entitlement state runs out of other peoples' money to redistribute. In 2010, nearly half -- 49.5 percent -- of all adult Americans paid no federal income taxes. This is a prescription for an economic imbalance similar to the one that has paralyzed Greece.
• Ranks of the takers are exploding: The baby boomer generation has begun retiring and within the next 25 years their ranks will swell to more than 70 million. Virtually all of them will depend on government for many benefits. This means the Dependency Index is headed higher, even if major entitlement programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are reformed now.
Alexis de Tocqueville reputedly said that the American republic will last only "until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury." http://washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/op-eds/2012/02/takers-overtake-makers-threatening-american-self-reliance/266966
-------------------------------------------------------------------Huffington Post reports: You've heard about free school lunches and breakfasts, but how about school suppers? In California, dinners are now being served to students at almost 200 schools.

These California schools are joining a new federally-funded effort to provide three meals a day to children from low-income families who also attend after-school programs across the state.
When Congress passed the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act near the end of 2010, it allowed after-school programs to receive federal funding for supper at the same rate provided for free and reduced-price school lunches. To be eligible, the after-school program must have an educational component, such as homework tutoring or a class on health and nutrition, and at least half of students served must qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
One parent, who was struggling financially, told Petrill that the school-provided meals for her children saved her $100 a week in grocery costs.
[We have this program in Michigan.  EVERY student gets the dinner because they don't want to make the poor people feel different.  So long, family meal times...  It's sunrise to sunset care by the government.  And we wonder where the entitlement mentality originates?] http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/09/school-supper-dinner-is-n_n_1265631.html
