I GUESS Obama NOW DOES THINK HE IS KING!
[Some time ago]To the Spanish-language newspaper "La Opinion", Obama defended his work on immigration: "In some ways there is an unrealistic notion of what I can get done by myself." On Oct. 25, Obama agreed to an in-studio radio interview with Eddie Sotelo, the host of a popular program on an L.A. Spanish station.
The interview deteriorated; Obama remained mostly on the defensive. "If the majority of Democrats support this issue, if I as president support this issue.then the question I have is why are we spending time talking about us instead of spending time focusing on getting Republicans to do what's right?" he asked. As the interview continued, he seemed more than ever like a president beleaguered by all that he could not control:
  • "Change isn't easy," he said. "It doesn't happen overnight."
  • "I am president. I am not king. I can't do these things just by myself."
  • "I just want to repeat: I'm president. I'm not king."
  • "The notion that we haven't worked hard is just not true."

In Gaza, less than an hour and a half from Tel Aviv, school graduations are also underway. There, too, parents have been scrambling to obtain slots for their beloved offspring in summer camps run by Hamas. At these institutions, children do not learn how to swim or make lanyards. No, their time is not wasted on frivolous childhood activities. Instead, they spend their time receiving instruction on how best to contribute to the Palestinian cause of killing Jews and annihilating Israel. It is, as far as the parents of these babes in the woods are concerned, an important preparatory period for their coming of age as suicide bombers.
But Hamas isn’t the only group in Gaza concerned with child welfare. Islamic Jihad is just as interested in providing the next generation with crucial tools for their future as upstanding Palestinian citizens, and the earlier the better. This terrorist organization, like everyone else, realizes that tots have an enormous hunger and capacity for learning.
This month, an Islamic Jihad kindergarten displayed for parents how well its 5- and 6-year-olds had absorbed what they were taught during the year. At their graduation ceremony, the little ones put on a performance that made the adults enormously proud.
The show included a series of skits depicting Israeli soldiers as evil torturers of innocent Palestinians. A number of the children were in a cage, representing an Israeli prison, with their hands cuffed behind their backs. Others were dressed in makeshift IDF uniforms — with kippot on their heads — carrying various kinds of weapons. One child playing an Israeli soldier shoved the head of another child, playing a tortured Palestinian, into a bucket of water. Meanwhile, the children recited anti-Israel slogans and expressed their desire to become martyrs.http://www.israelhayom.com/site/newsletter_opinion.php?id=2063

Eight people died — including a 16-year-old boy — and at least 43 others were wounded in weekend shootings across the city, Chicago police reported.
Joseph Briggs was the youngest to die in the weekend gun violence, just outside his Marquette Park home.
The 16-year-old was shot on his front porch in the 6100 block of South Rockwell, police said. Shots were fired from a gray vehicle about 8 p.m. Saturday, police said, adding that the shooting might be gang-related.  [I'm certain the DOJ is not all over this because it is NOT white-on-black crime...]
Remember those websites that chronicled the Iraq body count? They should consider doing the same for Chicago. Sadly, around the same number were killed or wounded in a mortar attack in Baghdad Sunday.
You know what might drive the message home that Chicago is a lawless wasteland? Mitt Romney should go there and call for federal intervention in order to save lives, while pointing the finger at Rahm Emanuel, Barack Obama and David Axelrod.  http://www.jammiewf.com/2012/carnage-in-chicagoland-eight-dead-43-wounded-in-weekend-shootings/

Sheldon Adelson, billionaire casino magnate, Republican donor and former Newt Gingrich backer, has said that his political donations this election cycle will be "limitless," leading some to speculate his individual contributions might exceed $100 billion in favor of Mitt Romney.
Forbes has confirmed that billionaire Sheldon Adelson, along with his wife Miriam, has donated $10 million to the leading Super PAC supporting presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney–and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. A well-placed source in the Adelson camp with direct knowledge of the casino billionaire’s thinking says that further donations will be “limitless.”
The news media likes to play with these kinds of numbers as if there's some great meaning in them - and it's particularly juicy when it seems like some billionaire or another is bragging about campaign contributions specifically to Republicans. Whether it's Adelson, the Kochs, Foster Friess or any number of big-money GOP donors, they all play into the media's perception that Republicans are "buying" elections.
This ignores the fact that Barack Obama is a figurative fundraising machine. Obama started 2012 with $250 million in the bank, and while the hype around his potential to get to a billion was probably overhyped, he's going to be a force to be reckoned with, GOP billionaires or not. Barack Obama outspent John McCain three-to-one in the closing days of the 2008 campaign after outraising him by a massive amount. Did Obama "buy" the 2008 election? http://townhall.com/tipsheet/kevinglass/2012/06/14/billionaire_sheldon_adelson_promises_limitless_money_to_defeat_obama

Environmentalists heading to Brazil for a United Nations Rio+20 Summit on global environmentalism may be served well by paying attention to the recent action by the state of Alabama.-
By a unanimous vote of both houses of the Alabama Legislature, Senate Bill 477 was passed, essentially confirming that the state no longer will cooperate with the “Agenda for the 21st Century,” known as UN Agenda 21.
UN representatives are meeting in Brazil now for an organization meeting of the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives/Agenda 21 World Congress at Belo Horizonte. The meetings run through later this week.
Then a “sustainability environmental” Rio+20 Summit will be held June 20-22.
Since then, under a cloak of contracts compiled with palliative words such as “sustainable,” “smart growth,” “social justice” and others, more and more local and state governments in America have begun working with the UN’s Agenda 21.”‘
But the ideas contained therein, that U.S. energy production is bad because of its pollution, that wealthy nations must give technology and money to other nations and the like, did not please Alabama legislators.

Celebrating Father’s Day early, the president had lunch with two service members and two local barbers at Kenny’s BBQ on Capitol Hill.
As the group chatted about fatherhood, the president enjoyed a steaming plate of pork ribs with hot sauce, collard greens, red beans and rice and cornbread.
The bill for the president and his four guests was $55.58, but was left unpaid at the point of sale, according to pool reports.
The White House corrected the oversight and settled up the tab by the end of the business day.
It was an easy oversight on their part. They’re so used to putting their expenses off on others, they probably didn’t realize they’d done anything wrong.
This is especially delicious considering this quote from President Obama:
Obama compared Republicans to a person who orders a steak dinner and martini and then, “just as you’re sitting down, they leave, and accuse you of running up the tab.”
Oh, irony. You’re so playful sometimes.  http://www.redstate.com/aglanon/2012/06/14/obama-skips-out-on-bill-at-lunch/
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Gov. Rick Snyder said today that he's considering fallback options in case the Michigan Legislature doesn't back a plan to build a new bridge from Detroit to Windsor, including seeking an "interlocal agreement" with Canada that wouldn't require legislative approval.
The Republican governor said he hopes to the GOP-led House and Senate will back the bridge plan. But given his lack of success in getting legislation through the Senate, he's also pursuing other options.
"If you look at the state constitution, you'll see it actually includes Canada as a potential party to an interlocal agreement. It's kind of unique," Snyder said.
Snyder has said a second span between Detroit and Windsor is needed to speed exports and imports between the U.S. and Canada and add jobs.
The owners of the Ambassador Bridge are fighting Snyder's efforts to build a separate bridge, pushing a November ballot proposal that would require voters' approval to build the alternative bridge and running an aggressive ad campaign saying it would cost taxpayers a lot of money. http://www.crainsdetroit.com/article/20120516/FREE/120519942/snyder-considering-interlocal-agreement-between-state-canada-to-build-new-detroit-river-bridge

What’s academia’s response to a whistleblower who exposes fraudulent research and faked credentials on a panel of experts?
Fire the whistleblower, of course.
That’s the allegation in a new complaint filed against the regents of the University of California by the American Center for Law and Justice on behalf of former professor James E. Enstrom.
The lawsuit explains that Enstrom was a UCLA research professor for decades – until he blew the whistle on “junk environmental science and scientific misconduct at the University of California” and was dismissed. http://www.wnd.com/2012/06/ucla-accused-of-firing-prof-for-criticizing-pollution-agenda/

There are a number of Barack Obama fund-raiser types from four years ago that have come over now to help with Mitt Romney,” Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford said outside the Pump Room fund-raiser for Romney Thursday. “We’ve had time to see what an Obama White House would be, and it’s not quite what some people thought it would be. People see Romney and say, ‘Here’s a businessman who’s got experience’ … I think we’re finding a number of people willing to pony up.”- http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/13193334-418/chicago-hedge-fund-manager-switches-from-2008-obama-fan-to-2012-romney-backer.html

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio sat down at ABC15 to talk about the new changes by the Obama administration to stop deporting younger illegal immigrants.
The announcement came in around 6:30 a.m. Friday that some illegal immigrants will be granted work permits if they meet certain requirements.
"I think people from Mexico are now going to feel, 'Hey come on in and we'll get by with it.' But it won't happen in this county. They will still be arrested," Arpaio said.
According to The Associated Press, this change will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants who have lived in fear of deportation.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The U.S. government has revealed details of serious allegations against Secret Service agents and officers since 2004, including claims of involvement with prostitutes, leaking sensitive information, publishing pornography, sexual assault, illegal wiretaps, improper use of weapons and drunken behavior. It wasn’t immediately clear how many of the accusations were confirmed to be true. The heavily censored list, which runs 229 pages, was quietly released under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act to The Associated Press and other news organizations following the Secret Service prostitution scandal that erupted in April in Colombia. [HOW CAN THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS, I ASK!!!!  Since Obama and the Department of Homeland Security could not get the Dream Act passed by Congress, Obama just stated that his administration just will not deport certain illegals.  He is a tyrant and a dictator!  I can't believe Congress can't and won't do something about this, but I'm not holding my breath!!  He has given amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants!  He will give them work permits!  Candidate Romney - PLEDGE to undo this, and many other Executive Orders on your first day in office!  Call him out as the tyrant he is.]
The Obama administration will stop deporting and begin granting work permits to younger illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and have since led law-abiding lives. The election-year initiative addresses a top priority of an influential Latino electorate that has been vocal in its opposition to administration deportation policies.
The policy change, described to The Associated Press by two senior administration officials, will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants who have lived in fear of deportation. It also bypasses Congress and partially achieves the goals of the so-called DREAM Act, a long-sought but never enacted plan to establish a path toward citizenship for young people who came to the United States illegally but who have attended college or served in the military.  http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_OBAMA_IMMIGRATION?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2012-06-15-09-36-35

30% pay raises for Chicago teachers?; EPA uses Clean Water Act; Russia's missiles; Micro-unions; Holder now seeks a deal; What manmade global warming?; American education; Drone looks like UFO in DC; Law of the Sea Treaty hearings; 70% of Farm Bill money goes for food stamps; HBO and Bush's head on a stick; Even media hated Obama's speech; Supreme Court on Obamacare the week of JUne 25;

It takes a lot of nerve to ask for a 30 percent pay raise. You’d better be sure you had a banner year. Yet in Chicago, where just 15 percent of fourth graders are proficient in reading (and just 56 percent of students graduate), the teachers union is set to strike if the district does not agree to a 30 percent increase in teachers’ salaries.  [Do you see the problem?  Me, too.]  http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2012/06/good-times-chicago-teachers-union.html

Lawmakers are working to block an unprecedented power grab by the Environmental Protection Agency to use the Clean Water Act (CWA) and control land alongside ditches, gullies and other ephemeral spots by claiming the sources are part of navigable waterways.
These temporary water sources are often created by rain or snowmelt, and would make it harder for private property owners to build in their own backyards, grow crops, raise livestock and conduct other activities on their own land, lawmakers say.
“Never in the history of the CWA has federal regulation defined ditches and other upland features as ‘waters of the United States,’” said Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.), chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.), the ranking committee member, and Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-Ohio), chairman of the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment.
“This is without a doubt an expansion of federal jurisdiction,” the lawmakers said in a May 31 letter to House colleagues.
The unusual alliance of the powerful House Republicans and Democrat to jointly sponsor legislation to overturn the new guidelines signals a willingness on Capitol Hill to rein in the formidable agency. http://www.humanevents.com/2012/06/11/epa-power-grab-to-regulate-ditches-gullies-on-private-property/

The National Labor Relations Board under Barack Obama has become a totally politicized entity intent on destroying free enterprise and advancing union interests across the nation. One of the NLRB’s latest schemes is to authorize “micro-unions.”
Imagine going into a department store. With a micro-union, the shoe department of that department store could unionize. The rest of the store could be union free, except the shoe department. That’s a micro-union.
The Workforce Fairness Institute is trying to education people about just how problematic these things can be for both consumers and businesses. They have a new video, which they are debuting here at RedState this morning. Likewise, late yesterday came word that Senator Lindsey Graham intends to introduce legislation to defund the NLRB’s ability to support micro-unions.  http://www.redstate.com/erick/2012/06/14/meet-the-micro-union/

Attorney General Eric Holder is finding himself in an increasingly precarious position as House Republicans have scheduled a vote to hold him in contempt of Congress over his failure to comply with the Fast and Furious investigation. Now Holder is attempting to work out a deal in which he releases documents related to the investigation in the hopes that it may stop the congressional process.
Holder has defended his refusal to hand over documents for the congressional investigation by asserting that it would violate the “separation of powers.”
Congress did receive thousands of documents from the DOJ, many of which were irrelevant to the investigation, and others which were redacted. As noted by The New American’s Alex Newman, the DOJ supplied less than 10 percent of the documents that were requested for the investigation.  http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/crime/item/11713-ag-wants-compromise-after-contempt-vote-scheduled

In short, this (Law Dome) data series is one of the best historical models possible, as it represents a consistent temperature record over the timespan of thousands of years. And it highlights the United Nations' cover-up of the inconvenient truth, motivated by greed in the form of grant money, carbon-trading land grabs, and coverage by a subservient left-wing media.

A Climategate email shows that Phil Jones asked about the omission of the Law Dome series from the IPCC illustration in the AR4 First Draft. I asked the same question about the AR4 Second Draft. They realized that the Law Dome graphic had an elevated medieval period and thus, including it in the graphic would – to borrow a phrase from the preparation of AR3 – would “dilute the message” and perhaps provide “fodder to skeptics”.

To date, all the analysis and well-intentioned legislation has exasperated an already dire situation. Most notably would be “No Child Left Behind” (NCLB) created by President George W. Bush. NCLB seemed logical at the time as have numerous committees and dedicated citizen groups committed to resolving this issue. Unfortunately, NCLB was a disappointing and expensive failure – worse than that – we are left with a declining educational “system” and more government intrusion.
Before NCLB, the solution to a failing academic system was reported to be large classroom sizes, and then insufficiently funded schools. In New Jersey in 2012, we have smaller classrooms and embarrassingly large school budgets resulting in the highest per student costs in the nation – but the academic achievement levels of our students continue to decline. The private sector is another story. There the tuition costs are usually significantly less than the per capita costs of the local public school and the academic standards are usually higher.http://www.conservativenewsandviews.com/2012/06/12/education/education-reform-part-1/

People in the D.C. area are buzzing after pictures began popping up online showing what many believed to be a 'UFO' in transport along the Capitol Beltway.
The spotting took place around 11:00 p.m. Wednesday when drivers first saw the craft being hauled on a flatbed truck on I-270, then on I-495.
Maryland State Police confirmed that the strange craft was actually a drone aircraft made by Northrup Grumman that was being transported from West Virginia to Patuxent Naval Air Station in Maryland.

The Senate will have had three hearings on the LOST after today—yet, not for the purposes of educating Senators on the flaws versus the benefits of the treaty. The first hearing today is titled “Perspectives from the U.S. Military.” Witnesses include Admiral James A. Winnefeld, Jr, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and representatives from other government stakeholders in navigation on the high seas. The Senate Farm Bill should be renamed the Food Stamp bill.

A document released by the Congressional Research Service, shows that a staggering 78 percent of the $995 billion of the bill's budget authority over 10 years is dedicated to food stamps and nutrition program spending.

Only about $223 billion, 22 percent of the bill actually funds agriculture programs such as crop insurance, farm commodity supports, and conservation programs.

Sen. Jim Demint denounced the cost of the bill yesterday on the Senate floor, adding that since 2000, food stamp spending has increased 400 percent.- http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/farm-bill-or-food-stamp-bill/596381

HBO has apologized for using a model head of former President George W. Bush in a grisly decapitation scene for its hit drama "Game of Thrones."
The tenth episode of the first season of "Game of Thrones," now out on DVD, features the younger Bush's head on a stake. Commentary on the DVD notes that his head appears in a "couple of beheading scenes."
The show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss stated that George W. Bush's was used as physical inspiration to create a head for a scene in which King Joffrey shows Sansa Stark her deceased father's head on a stick.
"It's not a choice, not a political statement!" one of the writers insisted during the DVD commentary. "We just had to use what heads we had around."

Prior to President Barack Obama’s marathon 54 minute speech in Ohio today, the Obama campaign sent our several statements promising the speech would be a major address framing the campaign going forward. Barack Obama’s increasingly desperate struggle to win re-election is causing some of his worst traits to be put on display, including petulance and self-pity. The latest example occurred during a fundraiser in Baltimore, when the president said, “Because folks are still hurting right now, the other side feels that it’s enough for them to just sit back and say, ‘Things aren’t as good as they should be, and it’s Obama’s fault.’”
This is rich. No president in human history has quite equaled Obama when it comes to blaming others for his problems. http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2012/06/13/obama-entering-a-world-all-his-own/

On Wednesday morning, The Heritage Foundation released a paper by Center for Data Analysis Senior Fellow James Sherk on the cost of the 2009 auto bailout. The Treasury Department estimates that the auto bailout will end up costing taxpayers $23 billion and, according to Sherk, all of those losses are the result of the Obama administration’s special treatment of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union. In the paper, Sherk pegs the eventual cost of that special treatment at $26.5 billion — $3.5 billion more than the auto bailout’s estimated net cost.

The Obama administration has taken the CIA “out of the business” of interrogating high-value terrorists and the lack of data is endangering the U.S. security, according to former CIA counterterrorism chief Jose A. Rodriguez.

A critical document from President Barack Obama's free trade negotiations with eight Pacific nations was leaked online early Wednesday morning, revealing that the administration intends to bestow radical new political powers upon multinational corporations, contradicting prior promises.
The leaked document has been posted on the website of Public Citizen, a long-time critic of the administration's trade objectives. The new leak follows substantial controversy surrounding the secrecy of the talks, in which some members of Congress have complained they are not being given the same access to trade documents that corporate officials receive.
"The outrageous stuff in this leaked text may well be why U.S. trade officials have been so extremely secretive about these past two years of [trade] negotiations," said Lori Wallach, director of Public Citizen's Global Trade Watch in a written statement.
Under the agreement currently being advocated by the Obama administration, American corporations would continue to be subject to domestic laws and regulations on the environment, banking and other issues. But foreign corporations operating within the U.S. would be permitted to appeal key American legal or regulatory rulings to an international tribunal. That international tribunal would be granted the power to overrule American law and impose trade sanctions on the United States for failing to abide by its rulings.
The terms run contrary to campaign promises issued by Obama and the Democratic Party during the 2008 campaign.

Big Gulps might be on the way out in New York, but not at 30 Rock, the home of NBC News. There, the big gulp happened last night as network newsies were forced to swallow their pride and report on the deadly “Fast and Furious” scandal as Attorney General Eric Holder testified on Capitol Hill.

This was the first time the network had covered “Fast and Furious” though the scandal dates back more than a year. For a whole year, stubborn, Obama-supporting network news execs probably thought the whole embarrassing episode would disappear. When it finally didn’t, NBC covered it as you might expect – poorly and with spin.

But now its creators may find themselves having to do a bit of explaining after they apparently revealed that one of the many decapitated heads that appeared on a stake in the show is former President George W. Bush. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/06/13/former-president-george-w-bush-beheaded-in-game-of-thrones/

Joy Behar, Al Gore's new employee at Current TV, said Tuesday in response to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's comments on the need for more police, teachers, and firefighters, "I’d like to see his house burn, one of his millions of houses burning down."
During an interview with the liberal website Mediaite, Behar added, "Who's he going to call, the Mormon fire patrol?" (video follows with transcript and commentary, relevant section begins at minute 6:30):

Eric Allen Bell, a documentary filmmaker, was a fixture at court hearings and protests over the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro in 2010.
Back then, he was making a movie called Not Welcome, which depicted mosque critics as Southern Christian bigots.
Now he says the mosque is part of a plot to destroy America. He claimed the mosque is "built on a foundation of lies" in a recent op-ed piece at the anti-Islam site Jihadwatch.com.
"I want to communicate that the biggest threat to human rights is Islam," he said in a recent phone interview. http://www.usatoday.com/news/story/2012-06-13/Tenn-filmmaker-fights-mosque/55573714/1

Controversial legislation tucked into a contentious highway-funding bill gives state and federal governments $1.4 billion to buy private property for new conservation efforts and adds even more inventory to the nation’s 635 million acre holding.

Rep. Doc Hastings (R-Wash.), chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, says this two-year funding mechanism for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) is “particularly egregious” because the government doesn’t have billions of dollars needed to care for the vast holdings.

“The mandatory buying of more land under LWCF is a fiscal dereliction of duty—especially since the government can’t afford to maintain the lands it already owns,”
Hastings said.
The federal government controls more land in Nevada, 81 percent of the total, than in any other state. Utah comes in second, where the federal government controls 67 percent of its lands.

Property Rights: Few have heard of Agenda 21, the U.N. plan for sustainable development that tosses property rights aside. But Alabama has, and it recently secured a victory as important as that over union power in Wisconsin.
After Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's stunning triumph over the excesses and abuses of public-sector unions, the London Telegraph's James Delingpole, an indefatigable opponent of global warming fraud, opined in a piece titled, "How Wisconsin And Alabama Helped Save The World," that we should take note of "an equally important but perhaps less well-publicized victory won in the Alabama House and Senate over the U.N.'s malign and insidious Agenda 21."
Agenda 21 is one of those compacts, like Law of the Sea, Kyoto and New START, that are supported by an apologetic administration with a fondness for the redistribution of American power and wealth on a local and global scale. http://news.investors.com/article/614173/201206071903/alabama-fights-un-agenda-21-land-grab.htm

When a floating dock the size of a boxcar washed up on a sandy beach in Oregon, beachcombers got excited because it was the largest piece of debris from last year's tsunami in Japan to show up on the West Coast.
But scientists worried it represented a whole new way for invasive species of seaweed, crabs and other marine organisms to break the earth's natural barriers and further muck up the West Coast's marine environments. And more invasive species could be hitching rides on tsunami debris expected to arrive in the weeks and months to come.
"We know extinctions occur with invasions," said John Chapman, assistant professor of fisheries and invasive species specialist at Oregon State University's Hatfield Marine Science Center. "This is like arrows shot into the dark. Some of them could hit a mark." http://apnews.myway.com/article/20120609/D9V9RA7O2.html

Intelligence chiefs have warned that plans to install smart energy meters in every house will leave families vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
According to the Government’s listening agency GCHQ, the plans will create a ‘strategic vulnerability’, giving foreign computer hackers the opportunity to target individual homes, municipal buildings and even whole districts.
Described by security experts as the ‘modern day equivalent of a nuclear strike’, hackers would be able to switch off meters from overseas, cutting off targets from the national grid.

Our Secretary of State said she was on a mission to see for herself the impacts of global warming. That being the case, she should have started her trip in Iowa, in the heart of the World’s Breadbasket. Why Iowa? Because as the world has warmed, crops have responded with ever-improving yields. Nearly every year, important crops set yield-per-acre records in the United States and elsewhere. This is consistent with the basic science that carbon dioxide is aerial fertilizer. It is also consistent with longer growing seasons and the improvement in soil moisture that accompanied warmer temperatures. Want to see for yourself the impacts of global warming, Secretary Clinton?  Start in Iowa. http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/2012/06/06/hillary-clinton-needs-a-new-global-warming-travel-agent/

According to an analysis by Steve Goss, chief actuary for the Social Security Administration, about 200,000 more people filed initial claims in 2009 and 2010 than the agency had predicted before the recession and he said the trend most likely continued in 2011 and 2012, though that is harder to quantify. The most likely reason is joblessness.[Here is one problem we have, illustrated by the woman featured in this article: Social Security was never meant to be one's sole source of income in retirement.  Saving for your own retirement throughout your working years instead of spending all the money you earn and more was the plan and SS was to simply sweeten the retired life.] http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/10/business/forced-to-retire-early-jobless-pay-a-steep-price.html?_r=1&ref=motokorich

Last night on GBTV Glenn unveiled a national Restoring Love food drive being organized by Mercury One. He explained how there are actually cities in the United States where it is illegal to give food to the homeless. As regulation gets more and more strict, it’s becoming impossible to really help others.
Glenn has been challenging this audience to put your money where your heart is, live a life of honor, and be a force for good – the government is becoming the exact antithesis of that. So how do we begin to change course and take a stand against these regulations? Glenn presented his plan last night.
Glenn’s goal was to fill eleven tractor trailers with food and send them to eleven cities where they are in need and where regulations have restrained donations: Detroit, MI; Navajo Reservation, NM; New Orleans, LA; Las Vegas, NV; San Joaquin Valley County, CA; New York, NY; Orlando, FL; Philadelphia, PA; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Wilmington, OH.
This morning on radio, Glenn told listeners about the overwhelming response he go from the GBTV audience.
“Last night in one broadcast, 531,200 meals were purchased for the hungry by this audience,” Glenn said. “I don’t know if anybody has ever done that that fast. I don’t know. I don’t know. Am I reading this right? We filled eleven tractor trailers last night?” http://www.glennbeck.com/2012/06/07/restoring-love-food-drive-11-trucks-filled-on-the-1st-night/

[I guess nobody likes pirates.] Iran and an American-led naval coalition each said today that they responded to a distress call by a US-flagged cargo ship that came under fire from gunmen in the Gulf of Oman a day earlier.
Armed guards aboard the 488-foot (148-meter) Maersk Texas thwarted the attack northeast of the Emirati port of Fujairah, Danish shipper A.P. Moller-Maersk said. The attack happened not far from the tense waters of the Strait of Hormuz, a key transit point for a fifth of the world's oil.

The Homeland Security Department ordered so many drones it can’t keep them all flying and doesn’t have a good plan for how to use them, according to a new audit the department’s inspector general released Monday.

After weeks of talks, drug industry lobbyists were growing nervous. To cut a deal with the White House on overhauling health care, they needed to be sure that President Obama would stop a proposal intended to bring down medicine prices.
On June 3, 2009, one of the lobbyists e-mailed Nancy-Ann DeParle, the president’s health care adviser. Ms. DeParle reassured the lobbyist. Although Mr. Obama was overseas, she wrote, she and other top officials had “made decision, based on how constructive you guys have been, to oppose importation” on a different proposal.
Just like that, Mr. Obama’s staff signaled a willingness to put aside support for the reimportation of prescription medicines at lower prices and by doing so solidified a compact with an industry the president had vilified on the campaign trail. Central to Mr. Obama’s drive to remake the nation’s health care system was an unlikely collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry that forced unappealing trade-offs. [Central to his approval by the AARP was the fact that under Obamacare and its millions of people who would lose their insurance, AARP stood to make billions of dollars picking up the newly uninsured with their coverage.] http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/09/us/politics/e-mails-reveal-extent-of-obamas-deal-with-industry-on-health-care.html?_r=1&hp

California is the nation’s welfare queen: The state accounts for one-third of America’s welfare recipients, though it only contains one-eighth of the population, and there’s no good reason for it. New documents uncovered from the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office indicate that a top Penn State official kept a file about sexual assault allegations against former football coach Jerry Sandusky, and that he and the University president agreed that it would be "humane" to not report Sandusky to authorities. NBC News first reported yesterday that former Penn State president Graham Spanier and vice president Gary Schultz were not only aware of a 2001 allegation that Sandusky has raped a young boy in a school locker room, but they investigated the legal ramifications of the charges and then agreed to spare Sandusky by not turning him into child services. http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/302148/california-america-s-welfare-queen-nash-keune

It’s bye-bye, Beltway for Cory Booker.
Newark’s mayor, who was gunning for a spot in President Obama’s Cabinet, lost the chance after he shot his mouth off during a blunderingly honest TV appearance last month, sources told The Post.
“He’s dead to us,” one ranking administration official said of the prevailing feelings at the White House and Obama headquarters in Chicago.
Booker had been angling for the housing secretary gig in a second Obama term, according to sources in the administration and close to the mayor.
The job was certainly a possibility, given Booker’s work in New Jersey’s biggest city, according to administration and Democratic Party sources.

But organization and money aren't the headline [in the Wisconsin Recall election]. The shift in mood and assumption is. The vote was a blow to the power and prestige not only of the unions but of the blue-state budgetary model, which for two generations has been: Public-employee unions with their manpower, money and clout, get what they want. If you move against them, you will be crushed.
Mr. Walker was not crushed. He was buoyed, winning by a solid seven points in a high-turnout race.
Governors and local leaders will now have help in controlling budgets. Down the road there will be fewer contracts in which you work for, say, 23 years for a city, then retire with full salary and free health care for the rest of your life—paid for by taxpayers who cannot afford such plans for themselves, and who sometimes have no pension at all. The big meaning of Wisconsin is that a public injustice is in the process of being righted because a public mood is changing.  http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303753904577452793597495290.html

Earlier this spring, President Obama's attorney Alexandra Hill went to court in New Jersey over a challenge to her client's eligibility to appear on the 2012 presidential primary ballot. New Jersey citizens, represented by attorney Mario Apuzzo, made two claims: that Barack Obama has not proved he meets the conditions for presidential eligibility (namely, that he is a "natural born citizen"), and that the proof Obama released attesting to his bona fides (an Internet image of his long-form birth certificate) is fraudulent.
Hill's argument? A presidential candidate has no obligation under New Jersey state law to prove his eligibility, period.
Administrative Law Judge Jeff Masin agreed with Hill and ruled in Obama's favor. He further asserted that, absent such an obligation, the Internet image of Obama's birth certificate -- the same image that Sheriff Joe Arpaio's Cold Case Posse investigators believe to be a forgery -- is "legally irrelevant."
The upshot for New Jersey? As the president's attorney put it, "you could have Mickey Mouse" on the presidential ballot so long as he received the requisite 1,000 petition signatures. http://www.jewishworldreview.com/0612/west060812.php3

[Voter fraud?  What voter fraud??] Breitbart News has now discovered evidence that residents were enticed to vote in exchange for a free meal.
A Racine resident emailed the following .pdf document showing that residents were invited to the Changing Lives Ministry for a breakfast last Friday morning prior to Election Day--and then provided buses to and from City Hall to cast early ballots.
Breitbart News has also received video (included below) from a resident of Racine showing ballot boxes open and ballots being shuffled around and dropped on the floor. Our source informed me that while he was waiting in line to vote at the 6th District 13th & 14th Ward polling place, located at the 1409 State St. Transit Center, he noticed ballots going into the machines and coming right back out, rather than remaining inside the machines. He also noticed one of the ballot boxes being opened after reportedly being jammed.
Our source added that the ballot box was jammed at ballot number 671, opened up, and then cleared out. He says he saw at least three ballots being torn out of the machine and ripped in half to clear the jam. A new machine was brought in to replace it--and, according to our source, that machine machine was also at ballot number 671, rather than starting from scratch at number 1. Our source only saw a few ballots in the original box, and said that it did not look like there were over six hundred ballots ever inside. These accounts raise legitimate and urgent questions: were all the ballots in that ward counted? Were all the ballots that were counted actually cast? With an election teetering on a margin of 1%, the answers are tremendously important, as a .5% margin would trigger an automatic recount.http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/06/09/More-Polling-Place-Problems-in-Racine-Throw-Close-Election-Into-Doubt

It would be hard to imagine a greater gift than the sound bite that Barack Obama handed to Republicans on Friday: “The private sector is doing fine.”
At a moment when the president is struggling to connect with the economic anxieties of the American public, that statement is likely to show up again and again in attack ads, conservative commentary and Republican stump speeches between now and November.  Those six words now stand as Exhibit A in the GOP’s case that, as Obama’s opponent Mitt Romney put it minutes later, the president is “detached and out of touch” on the issue that ranks at the top of voter concerns.  http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/obama-struggles-to-find-his-political-footing-on-the-economy/2012/06/08/gJQAqDBzNV_story.html

A controversial Coney Island principal has pulled the plug on patriotism.
Her refusal to let students sing “God Bless the USA” at their graduation has sparked fireworks at a school filled with proud immigrants.
Greta Hawkins, principal of PS 90, the Edna Cohen School, won’t allow kindergartners to belt out the beloved Lee Greenwood ballad, also known as “Proud to be an American,” at their moving-up ceremony.
Five classes spent months learning the patriotic song, which skyrocketed in popularity after the 9/11 attacks and the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
It was to be the rousing finale of their musical show at the June 20 commencement. The kids, dressed up for their big day, would wave tiny American flags — which, as the lyrics proclaim, “still stand for freedom.”
But Hawkins marched in on a recent rehearsal and ordered a CD playing the anthem to be shut off, staffers said.
She told the teachers to drop the song from the program.
“We don’t want to offend other cultures,” they quoted her as explaining.
The curt edict stunned both staff and parents.
